The Dacia Spring EV, which is sold as the Renault Kwid in some international markets, will be unveiled in a new avatar on February 21. Soon to arrive in the UK market, the new-generation Spring incorporates significant design and technical upgrades. While not much can be said about the electric vehicle, a teaser image suggests that the Dacia Spring EV will borrow design cues from the new Duster, officially revealed by Dacia – Renault’s sister brand in Portugal. Expected to have slightly larger dimensions than before, the 2024 iteration of the Spring EV will include a new grille and sharper headlamps, although it will continue with the same SUV-like appearance and may get larger wheels.

2024 Dacia Spring EV: Technical Details

The new Dacia Spring will sit on the CMF-AEV platform, which is touted as Renault-Nissan's most affordable platform in the world. The platform is a modified version of the CMF-A, designed originally for A-segment ICE-powered vehicles in emerging markets. Although not much has been offered on this front, this platform is aimed at weight reduction and incorporating new technologies. Plus, the range- and performance-enhancing batteries and motors are also on the cards.

The electric vehicle will also get upgrades inside the cabin, including an updated dashboard and a new steering wheel. It is likely to come with the same infotainment screen as the new Dacia Duster.

Renault Kwid EV Likely to Launch in India in 2025

Offered as the Dacia Spring in Europe and other global markets, the Renault Kwid electric vehicle is equipped with a 26.8 kWh battery pack, offering a range of 295km (WLTP cycle). Meanwhile, the electric motor that powers the Kwid EV churns out 43bhp and 125Nm of torque.

The India-spec Kwid EV will be based on the revamped architecture and will feature EV-specific updates over the ICE-powered version that is sold in India. Once launched, it will rival the likes of the Citroen eC3, Tata Tiago EV, and MG Comet EV.
