The Renault Twizy ,as we all know, is an urban electric car and though we always dreamt of it going faster than the average car, we never thought of making it faster. But Renault proved us wrong as they applied the state-of-the-art kinetic energy recovery system (KERS) used in its F1 drivelines to this puny Twizy electric car and made it a pocket sized rocket.

Called the Twizy F1, the creation is credited to the collaboration of RenaultSport’s production car operations and RenaultSport’s F1 department. The F1 sourced KERS features an electric motor, lithium ion battery pack and control unit. All this is incorporated into the standard driveline module and is mounted on the rear seat which makes this Twizy, a single seater.

There are two modes in which the KERS operates. One in recovery mode where it gathers kinetic energy generated under braking thus storing it in the battery for later usage. And then there is the boost mode it provides 77 bhp over and above the usual 16 bhp.  When on boost mode, the Twizy F1 blasts from 0-100km/h in 6 seconds and is capable of a top speed of 110km/h.

Ofcourse it comes with a bodykit  like the modern day F1 race cars which includes ground  hugging side sills, rear diffuser, front and rear wings. This is a one-off concept and Renault wanted  to show the world  that the Twizy can be cute and ferocious.
