The Czech automobile manufacturer Skoda has launched the new Matte Edition of the Kushaq SUV in the Indian market. Prospective buyers have to shell out at least Rs 16.19 lakh for the entry-level 1.0 TSI Manual. While the top-spec 1.5 TSI Automatic carries a sticker price of Rs 19.39 lakh. As for the other two versions, the pricing for the 1.0 TSI Automatic and the 1.5 TSI Manual stands at Rs 17.79 lakh and Rs 18.19 lakh, respectively. All prices are ex-showroom. According to the manufacturer, the Kushaq Matte Edition is a limited-run model from the house of Skoda, which will be available in 500 units. The Kushaq is Skoda's first SUV to debut under the VW Group's 'India 2.0' project in 2021. The compact SUV is based on the MQB A0 IN platform, suggesting that the brand has Indianised the SUV. This means that the SUV is heavily localised, which in turn indicates lower service & ownership costs and competitive pricing.
Launched in 2021, the Kushaq will soon complete two years in the Indian market. On the occasion of the launch, Petr Solc, Brand Director, Skoda Auto India, said, "We have been constantly making updates and adding value to the car based on customer feedback. The Matte Edition is the latest in this endeavour where we are offering an enhanced, matte aesthetic for discerning customers, along with distinct styling enhancements. We look forward to welcoming more customers into the Škoda family with the Kushaq Matte Edition, and further build our SUV expertise, with superior driving dynamics and safety that comes standard with a Kushaq."
Skoda Kushaq Matte Edition: What's New Visually?
The Matte Edition SUV sits between the flagship Style and the niche Monte Carlo variants of the Kushaq. Visually, the new Kushaq Matte Edition gets a Carbon Steel paint shade finished in Matte. Meanwhile, the ORVMs, door handles, and rear spoiler are done in Gloss Black.
In contrast to the matte bodywork, the Kushaq continues to be adorned with chrome elements, such as a grille, trunk garnish, and window garnish. At the rear, the new edition bears a 1.5 TSI badge, similar to the Monte Carlo Edition.
Skoda Kushaq Matte Edition: What's Inside?
On the inside, the new edition receives a 10-inch infotainment system with wireless Smartlink, supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. In addition, the SUV also gets a Skoda sound system powered by 6 high-performance speakers and a subwoofer.
Skoda Kushaq Matte Edition: Engine and Gearbox
Under the hood, the new Matte Edition receives two petrol engine options: a 1.0-litre TSI engine and a 1.5-litre TSI engine option. On offer are a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed automatic, and a 7-speed DSG transmission.
On the safety front, the Kushaq has ESC (Electronic Stability Control) as standard across the range. The vehicle also gets six airbags, ISOFIX mounts for child seats, and a tyre-pressure monitor. For those unaware, the Kushaq was the first Made-in-India car to undergo crash testing under stricter protocols and also the first to receive 5-star ratings for both adult and child occupant safety, with the highest rating at 29.64.
