Maruti Suzuki Jimny Gets Discounts of up to Rs 1.50 Lakh in June

For June 2024, Maruti Suzuki is offering steep discounts on its popular off-roader, the Jimny. The available offers for the lifestyle SUV go up to Rs 1.5 lakh. 

Well, yes, she has gone back, and it feels like a break-up. Last month, I had to or was rather forced to part ways with my long-term Jimny. Only I know the depth of sadness I felt as I watched my beloved drive away. It was truly heartbreaking.

We have talked about the Jimny’s capabilities in great detail in the past multiple times, so you might already know that it’s quite a potent off-roader, and it’s also quite flawed as an everyday car. What I will talk about in this final report, however, is the ownership experience – or the personal bond that I have come to share with the little Jimny. 
 
In the last six months, I clocked over 11,000km with the Jimny, meaning I spent quite a lot of time driving it – by choice, that is. And I say this because there have been days when we had AMGs, BMWs, and many other faster, fancier, and better vehicles sitting idle in our office’s parking lot, and yet I’d choose the Jimny over everything else. Whether it was for my daily drive home or highway runs (where the Jimny feels totally out of its depth), I consciously preferred the Jimny over everything else.

It didn’t matter if people joked about it being a ‘toy car’. It didn’t matter if my family didn’t find it comfortable. It didn’t matter if it couldn’t pull the skin off a rice pudding with its performance. Nothing mattered at all! The Jimny, to me, is the automotive equivalent of ‘the one’. You stop caring about everything else – the flaws, the complexities, the compromises. You don’t give two hoots. The whole world revolves around you and your partner. That’s precisely how I felt living with the Jimny.

Even though it’s gone, I really, really want the Jimny back in my life. So much so that I spend my nights sitting on the Nexa website, looking for the best deals on the Jimny. I must say that I’d almost decided on a red Jimny and was tempted to break the bank. But then, I recently stumbled upon some pictures of the Australia / South-Africa spec Jimny – the one that comes in some cool colour options, including ivory beige. That’s what I WANT now. Considering the 4-door Jimny is shipped to the rest of the world from India, I believe it shouldn’t be much of a hassle to launch these new colour options here. C’mon Maruti Suzuki, just do it and take my money!

Maruti Suzuki Jimny Long Term Review, March 2024 Report

Even though it’s gone, I really, really want the Jimny back in my life. So much so that I spend my nights sitting on the Nexa website, looking for the best deals on the Jimny.

For the month of March 2024, <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/maruti-suzuki/">Maruti Suzuki</a> is offering&nbsp;attractive discounts and benefits on its Nexa model, the Jimny.&nbsp;The MY23 Jimny comes with a cash discount of up to Rs 1.50 lakh, while the&nbsp;MY24 units of the off-roader are available with a cash benefit of Rs 50,000. On top of that, there is a corporate discount as well, with the amount set at Rs 3,000;&nbsp;however, it depends on the eligibility criterion. Also, note that these offers may vary from city to city and are subject to stock availability.&nbsp;Maruti Suzuki offers the Jimny&nbsp;in two broad variants – Zeta and Alpha, with prices ranging from Rs 12.74&nbsp;lakh to Rs 14.79 lakh&nbsp;(ex-showroom).&nbsp;

<h2>Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Powertrain</h2>

Underneath the skin, there is&nbsp;a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated K15B petrol engine, which produces 134Nm of peak torque at 4,000rpm and 103bhp at 6,000rpm.&nbsp;The transmission duties are taken care&nbsp;of by either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic gearbox,&nbsp;sending power to all four wheels through Maruti Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4WD system&nbsp;consisting of a&nbsp;manual transfer case and a low-range gearbox with 2WD-high,&nbsp;4WD-high&nbsp;&amp;&nbsp;4WD-low&nbsp;modes.&nbsp;

<h2>Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Features</h2>

Features-wise, the 5-door SUV&nbsp;gets&nbsp;a multimedia touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, automatic climate control, an electronic stability programme with hill-hold assist and hill descent control, limited slip differential (LSD), ABS with EBD, a rear-view camera, projector headlamps with washers, cruise control, and even 6 airbags on all variants.&nbsp;

Seven exterior colour options are offered with the new Jimny. These include&nbsp;two dual-tone versions (Kinetic Yellow with Black Roof and Sizzling Red with Black Roof) and five monotone options (Bluish Black, Granite Grey, Pearl Arctic White, Sizzling Red, and Nexa Blue).&nbsp;

<h2>Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Rivals</h2>

The&nbsp;Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-Door is priced between Rs 12.74 lakh&nbsp;and Rs 14.79&nbsp;lakh&nbsp;(ex-showroom). At this price point, it takes on the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/mahindra/thar/">Mahindra Thar</a>&nbsp;and the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/force-motors/gurkha/">Force Gurkha</a>. The Maruti Suzuki Jimny was launched in June 2023 as a replacement for the Gypsy (1985), and&nbsp;since then, the model has been offered with multiple discounts, which include a&nbsp;

The Maruti Suzuki Jimny was launched last year as a successor to the popular Gypsy. While the SUV is capable off-road, the high sticker price resulted in sluggish sales. The SUV has since received multiple discounts, including <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/car-news/maruti-suzuki-jimny-attract-discount-of-up-to-rs-221-lakh-in-december-115566/">benefits of up to Rs 2.21 lakh in December</a>.

<h2>Maruti Suzuki Sales Performance for&nbsp;Feb.&nbsp;2024</h2>

In other news, Maruti Suzuki&nbsp;reported total sales of 1,97,471 units in February 2024, registering a 15 per cent&nbsp;YoY&nbsp;increase over February 2023's sales volume of 1,72,321 units. The company's entry-level models, the Alto and the S-Presso, continued to reel under stress, with sales plunging to 14,782. Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki's subcompact cars – Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, Tour S, and WagonR – were delivered to 71,627 buyers, registering a 10 per cent YoY decline last month.

However, a notable 83 per cent YoY growth&nbsp;was recorded by the company's utility vehicles lineup, including&nbsp;the&nbsp;Brezza, Ertiga,&nbsp;Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, and XL6. The <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/industry-news/jimny-grand-vitara-fronx-and-more-help-maruti-suzuki-register-83-yoy-growth-in-february-61234-units-sold-116347/">UVs'&nbsp;February 2024&nbsp;sales stood at 61,234 units</a> as opposed to&nbsp;33,550 units in February 2023. The only van offered by Maruti Suzuki&nbsp;– Eeco – clocked 12,147 units, denoting an increase of 7 per cent.&nbsp;

Maruti Suzuki Jimny Gets Discount of up to Rs 1.50 Lakh in March

The MY23 Maruti Suzuki Jimny comes with a cash discount of up to Rs 1.50 lakh, while the MY24 units of the off-roader are available with a cash benefit of Rs 50,000.

Even though I love the Jimny for what it is, I can’t deny that off-roaders – regardless of how big, small, or cute (in this case), they are, they don’t belong in the city. You don’t need a rugged 4x4 with a choppy ride for your daily office commutes, which often involve driving over well-paved roads. Moreover, driving an off-roader in cities can inadvertently inconvenience other motorists by obstructing their view and make you seem like an ego-driven ignoramus. But then, if you think about it, that’s precisely why everyone wants an off-roader / SUV – to be a nuisance!

Now, usually, I maintain a level-headed approach while driving the Jimny and don’t get carried away into mindless pavement excursions, displaying an I-have-more-drive-in-my-wheels-than-you kind of behaviour – that would be juvenile. However, I must confess that after a recent heavy downpour in Delhi, I had a compelling urge to ‘show off’ the Jimny’s capabilities to lesser mortals driving hatchbacks, sedans, and FWD cars. Of course, I didn’t cause mayhem, but the pleasure of driving over water-logged roads without a care in the world, while others cautiously tiptoed around in their normal cars was, well, unmatched. I believe it’s days like these that an off-roader or SUV owner lives for, as they give them an opportunity to justify their decision to buy a 4x4 instead of a more practical vehicle.

On a related note, I’ve just heard that it’s snowing quite heavily in the nearby hills of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. Now, wouldn’t it be a shame if I don’t take our long-term Jimny there for a bit of showboating? Hmmm, see you later then!&nbsp;&nbsp;

When it comes to convincing your family to buy a new car, it can be a tough task. And at first glance, convincing them to bring home the Maruti Suzuki Jimny might seem even harder, but, here’s something about the Jimny to help convince every member of your family.

I can’t stress it over and over again but I really love the Jimny. And the more miles I clock with it, the harder I fall for it.

This month I completed 10,000km with our Jimny &amp; that means it’s time for a quick trip to the service station for an oil change. We will keep you posted on this.I have to say, though, that it stills works like a charm. The smoothness, performance, fuel efficiency, etc., everything has been very consistent.

For new years, I decided to take the Jimny for a small road trip to the hills of Kasauli, and on this occasion I had three of my cousins join me. Surprisingly, it was adequately comfortable for everyone and there was enough space, including the boot, for our weekend getaway. Two medium size strollers and a couple of small bags could fit without much shoving and squeezing. That said, the Jimny is strictly a four seater, since it’s a bit narrow.

While I’m head over heels in love with Jimny, there are a couple of things that I find quite annoying, and the seat belt reminder alarm for rear seat passengers tops the list in this regard. Last week, I had to fold the rear bench as I had carry some big boxes in the Jimny. And as soon as you take the rear seat-belts off, irrespective of someone sitting at the back or not, the alarm comes on. Now it is annoying as is but it’s even more baffling when the seats are not in use and are folded! Maruti really has to fix this. Sure, it’s a small thing but it does give you a major headache for atleast minute and a half. After that, the alarm gives up, thankfully.
