The fact that I’m a sucker for the Heritage collection timepieces emerging from Longines’ product range is no secret. I own one piece of the range in my own small watch collection. And, while retro cool has certainly been the flavor of the season in the watchmaking world, no other brand has been creating such faithfully reimagined creations with such consistency. Of course, what does help is that the humongous history of watches that Longines has produced over almost two centuries now, gives them a great range to work from.
The two latest creations are based on art-deco style watches from the 1940’s that the brand produced. The Longines Heritage Classic is the dressier of the two, with its silver opaline dial and the black hours track. It also features a second sub-dial with nice detailing on it. And with a case size of 38.5mm, it gives off a nice vintage vibe as far as size is concerned.
The more attractive of the two for me though, is the Chronograph, which is a larger 40mm case, but with a lot more detailing to it. The contrast between the silver dial, black hours track, and the blue tachymeter scale is pretty gorgeous to look at. Add to that the blued sub-dial and chronograph seconds hand, and it looks damn near perfect to me. In fact, if I hadn’t already bought myself a vintage-style Longines already, I would have happily gone in for this particular model.
