After completing a glorious year with us in our autoX long-term garage, our favorite compact sedan is now showing signs of some major faults. We’ve covered nearly 12,000 km without any hassle and the car has performed wonderfully, but now its showing signs of wear and tear. I must admit though that it does need a servicing as soon as possible though, and it will certainly get one. But, let’s talk about what is happening.

logbook

Firstly, the brakes are now noisier than ever, and if you press on them hard a very loud grinding sound can be heard. Obviously, this needs to be looked into now. Secondly, the engine of the car has begun to vibrate quite a bit. This only happens when you are crawling through traffic at low speeds. When you start from a standstill it is felt the most but when you pick up speed it feels normal again. This could be because of a transmission issue as well. Finally, the fuel economy had sipped drastically from around 18km/l to 14-15km/l.

Other than that, everything else is running fine and the car still feels comfortable and has amazing ride quality. I’m going to have to get the car serviced and looked at thoroughly though, and hopefully we will come back with some positive news.
