The Formula 1 circus heads to Mexico City for the 18th round of the season, but weather concerns loom as Hurricane Otis approaches. Otis has strengthened into a Category 4 hurricane, which means it could cause "catastrophic damage" if it makes landfall. The cyclone is continuing to strengthen and has the potential to reach category 5, which indicates "potentially catastrophic" conditions.

Since the Autodromo Hermanos Rodrguez returned to the Formula 1 calendar in 2015, Max Verstappen of Red Bull has been unstoppable in Mexico, winning four of the past seven races held there. The only other winner in the Mexican Grand Prix on the field is Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton, who challenged Verstappen for the win in Austin before being disqualified. Hamilton won in 2016 and 2019.

For Sergio Perez, the Mexican Grand Prix carries immense significance as his home race. However, this year's event may carry a unique ambience as his future with Red Bull remains uncertain. Perez has experienced a disappointing 2023 season, struggling to provide consistent support to his dominant teammate, Max Verstappen.

F1 Mexican Grand Prix 2023: About Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez

Formula 1 Mexican Grand Prix 2

It is named after racing drivers Ricardo (1942–1962) and Pedro Rodríguez (1940–1971). The Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez is a 4.304km track in Mexico City. After Ricardo Rodriguez tragically died during practice for the non-Championship 1962 Mexican Grand Prix, the track got its name soon after it opened. Pedro Rodriguez also died in a car accident nine years later, which was very sad. The track has been the site of the Formula One Mexican Grand Prix since 2015.

The track is in the public park of the Magdalena Mixhuca Sports City in the southeast of Mexico City. It is owned by the government but is currently run by Corporación Interamericana de Entretenimiento (CIE), which is handled by OCESA, a CIE subsidiary. The circuit is owned by CIE and is used for many events, such as NASCAR and Desafio Corona races. It is also rented out to race organisers, car clubs, and track fans.
