This next weekend, the renowned Algarve International Circuit in Portugal will play host to the MotoGP Portugal GP. The Ducati rider Francesco Bagnaia won the Qatar Grand Prix earlier this month, kicking off his championship defence in dramatic style. He won by outrunning KTM's Brad Binder and Pramac's Jorge Martin, his main rival from 2023. It is worth mentioning that Marc Marquez achieved an admirable fourth place in his first race with Gresini Ducati. Although he finished ninth for Tech3 GasGas, Pedro Acosta showed potential by finishing in the top ten.

Remembering back to the 2023 MotoGP Portuguese Grand Prix, it was an important moment when the first MotoGP Sprint was introduced. While Francesco Bagnaia won the sprint, his teammate Enea Bastianini suffered a shoulder blade injury in an accident with Luca Marini, which severely hindered his maiden season as a factory Ducati racer. One of the most interesting things that happened throughout the race was when Marc Marquez and Miguel Oliveira collided. Despite all that happened, Bagnaia remained calm and won the MotoGP Sprint-Grand Prix, making history as the first rider to do so.
