Ducati Diavel 1260 Highlights
Ducati's latest iteration of its cruiser style muscle-bike has made its way to Indian shores. The higher state of tune Diavel platform, the Ducati Diavel 1260 replaced the outgoing model a few years back. This year, its updated BS6 version has been launched in India. Ducati's Diavel platform got a massive update with the launch of its 1260 variant. The BS6 emission norms updates bring a few minor changes to the Ducati Diavel 1260 in terms of a slightly higher weight. But this is offset by a slightly higher power delivery. So, what makes the Ducati Diavel 1260 a manic monster on the streets, and what's new with its BS6 update? Read on for more information.
Ducati Diavel 1260 Exterior Details
The all-new Ducati Diavel 1260 features sharper lines and more aggressive looks compared to its outgoing counterpart. The design has been fairly modernised as well, along with new colour schemes. The bike gets aggressive LED lighting as well with integrated turning indicators. Although the bike retains the iconic Diavel silhouette, the bike has been redesigned to look sleeker and nimbler. The design also features large air intakes on either side, adding to the aggressive look of the muscle bike.
Ducati Diavel 1260 Engine & Transmission
The Ducati Diavel 1260 runs on a 1262cc DVT L-twin motor that puts down significantly more power and torque than its predecessor. Its BS6 variant puts down even more power than its BS4 variant, yet is also a few kgs heavier. The Ducati Diavel 1260 delivers 162PS at 9500rpm and 129Nm of peak torque at 7500rpm. This enables the bike to hit 100kmph in roughly 3 seconds, and a top speed of 270kmph. This monstrous motor is paired to a slip and assist clutch. For safety, the bike gets the Ducati Safety Pack as standard. This safety pack includes features such as traction control, wheelie control and cornering ABS.
Ducati Diavel 1260 Handling
For handling capabilities, the Ducati Diavel 1260 gets beefy 50mm adjustable USD forks and a preload and rebound adjustable mono-shock suspension. The higher-spec Ducati Diavel 1260 S however, gets top of line 48mm USD forks and a fully-adjustable mono-shock setup on the rear. Braking capabilities also vary between the two models. The base Diavel 1260 gets Brembo M4.32 monoblocs whereas the higher-spec Diavel 1260 S gets M50 monoblocs. These are anchored to the same dual 320mm discs with radial callipers on the front and a 265mm disc at the rear on both variants of the bike.
Ducati Diavel 1260 Features
In pure Ducati fashion, the Diavel 1260 comes loaded with features, with its higher-spec variant getting even more. The Ducati Diavel 1260 S gets a few cosmetic upgrades over the base 1260. These include aluminium machined alloys over the standard ones. The S variant also gets an up and down quick shifter. The bike gets a full LED treatment and a horde of rider aids and electronic features. As part of the Ducati Safety Pack, both variants of the Diavel get multiple rider modes, traction control, wheelie control and cornering ABS. The bike also gets cruise control and launch control. To read all this information, the Diavel gets a 3.5-inch TFT coloured display. The base Diavel gets the Ducati Multimedia System as an additional option. On the Diavel 1260 S, however, this feature is standard.
