Jawa Forty Two Highlights
The Forty Two is the entry-level model from Jawa motorcycles for the Indian market. The Jawa you see above is, design-wise, a very unique old-school motorcycle. It features a classic round headlamp, round side mirrors, a round cluster that is mounted on the right side of the low placed handlebar and a sleek tail lamp, which complements the overall classic appeal of this motorcycle. For 2021, Jawa has fitted the Forty Two with a few extra goodies and has made some internal changes – codenamed V2.1 – that will sell alongside the older model. It also gets new colour schemes, while the older variants continue with the same shades.
By the looks of it, the Forty Two is a very classic and rugged motorcycle. The Forty Two is, dimensionally, 2,122mm in length, 789mm in width and 1,165mm in height. The bike has a kerb weight of 170kg while the fuel holding capacity is 14-litres.
Engine & Transmission
At the heart of the Jawa Forty Two is a 293cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor, which churns out 27bhp of power and 28Nm of torque and comes mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The Jawa Forty Two mileage, as per the maker, is 34km/l.
The Forty Two comes equipped with an 18-inch tyre at the front and a 17-inch tyre at the back with exact tyre size being 90/90-18 and 120/80-17, respectively. The bike is based on a double-cradle chassis while the suspension duties are handled by telescopic hydraulic fork-type suspension at the front and a gas canister – twin shock hydraulic suspension at the back. As for the brakes, the bike gets a 280mm disc at the front and a 153mm drum at the rear. The V2.1 update brings alloy wheels along with tubeless tyres to the mix.
The Jawa Forty Two new model is equipped with a part-digital instrument cluster, of which, the digital screen shows useful information incorporating a tachometer, odometer and a fuel gauge while analogue instrumentation is used for the speedometer. The headlamp comes as a conventional halogen unit while the sleek rear taillamp is an LED unit. On the safety front, single-channel ABS is standard while dual-channel ABS is only available on higher trims.
