Bookings are now open at Rs 1.5 lakh for the locally assembled Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R.

The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R is finally coming to India! And what’s more, it’ll be assembled locally at Kawasaki India’s plant in Pune, Maharashtra. Price? Well, it’s not out as yet but we’re expecting the ZX-6R to have a tempting price-tag, just like its bigger sibling, the ZX-10R. For the time being, the official word from Kawasaki is that bookings are open for the new supersport at Rs 1.5 lakh across all Kawasaki dealers in the country.

The Ninja ZX-6R was recently updated, and that’s the model coming to India. The powertrain is unchanged from previous iterations, meaning the motorcycle is propelled by a 636cc in-line four-cylinder engine that pushes out 128bhp and 70.8Nm. Power transmission duties are carried out by a six-speed gearbox.

In the new version, the Ninja ZX-6R has gained a lot of equipment, and it also comes wearing a new fairing, meaning the aesthetics have changed quite a lot in comparison to older models. The ZX-6R will be initially offered only in KRT edition – Kawasaki’s racing colours. The updated Ninja ZX-6R gets KIBS (Kawasaki Intelligent anti-lock Brake System), KTRC (Kawasaki Traction Control), a twin-LED headlamp unit that looks remarkably similar to the Kawasaki Ninja 400, LED taillight, KQS (Kawasaki Quick Shifter) and more features. There’s also a new instrument cluster with a fuel gauge and range function. The tach is an analogue unit, while a multi-function LCD screen sits on the right side. Kawasaki has shod the motorcycle with Bridgestone Battlax Hypersoft S22 tyres.

Bookings of the Ninja ZX-6R will be open from 31st October 2018 to 30th November 2018, and Kawasaki says that it’ll be produced in limited numbers in the first lot. Deliveries will only begin in January 2019. At the moment, there’s no direct rival for the Ninja ZX-6R. So, if you’re looking for a 600cc track screamer, this will be an ideal motorcycle, provided Kawasaki prices it aggressively, that is.
