The Hero Mavrick 440 is new to India's sub-500cc bike category. It comes in three different variants: Base, Mid, and Top, which are priced at Rs 1.99 lakh, Rs 2.14 lakh, and Rs 2.24 lakh, respectively. In previous comparisons, we looked at how Hero's most recent naked street marvel stacked up against its primary competitors, the Harley-Davidson X440 (on which it is based) and the Triumph Speed 400. Now we're ready to compare the bike with another competitive label in the segment — the Bajaj Dominar 400. The Bajaj motorbike has a single variant and is priced at Rs 2.30 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). So, without further ado, let’s see how these two motorcycles differ in multiple aspects.

Hero Mavrick 440 vs Bajaj Dominar 400: Engine

The Hero Mavrick has a 440cc, air-and-oil-cooled single-cylinder motor that also does duty on the Harley-Davidson X440. When compared to its American counterpart, the Hero model produces 2Nm less (36Nm). However, the power output stays unchanged at 27bhp. The Mavrick 440 includes a six-speed transmission and a slip-and-assist clutch.

On the other hand, the Dominar 400 is underpinned by a 373.3cc, single-cylinder, DOHC, liquid-cooled motor that produces 39.4bhp and 35Nm. Despite having a larger displacement capacity than the Bajaj Dominar, the Mavrick generates less power. However, the Hero bike makes up for the shortage with a considerably higher torque value.
