Mini is currently testing the new fifth-gen model in Sweden.
Mini has been reading the new 3-Door for a while now and we finally have some pictures of the upcoming fifth-gen model. Yes, it is under wraps but there is a lot to decipher even from the camouflage.
In terms of styling, there’s not much to see though an image of the new Mini with its forefathers does reveal that this fifth-gen model will be even bigger than before. The headlights and taillights also seem noticeably larger than ones on the fourth-gen Mini, though it could just be a trick of the camo.
Shown here is the all-electric variant, but there will also be ICE variants on offer and Mini will continue to offer various body styles including the larger Countryman. Mini is also looking to gauge interest in a ‘crossover model for the premium small car segment’ by showcasing a concept study this year.
During the test in Sweden, Mini is looking to fine tune the balance and handling characteristics of the 3-Door, to retain that iconic go-kart feeling that the outgoing models have been known for.
Expect the fifth-gen MIni to be unveiled in the next few months, with an India launch to follow soon after. Judging by the increase in size and probably features too, it could command a premium over the current Rs 39 lakh starting price for the 3-Door.
