2023 Tata Harrier, Safari SUVs India Launch Tomorrow; Here's What We Know So Far

The all-new Tata Harrier and the Safari are set to hit Indian roads tomorrow with a range of improvements over their predecessors. Let's look at the engine, design, and other features of these upcoming Tata SUVs.

The revamped iterations of the Harrier and the Safari will launch in India tomorrow. While the SUVs have already shown the world their revised appearance, the market is still waiting for the price announcement. The upcoming versions will be more costly than previous models due to a slew of new features. The 2023 Harrier is offered in Sunlit Yellow, Coral Red, Pebble Grey, Lunar White, Oberon Black, Seaweed Green, and Ash Grey paint. On the other hand, the new Safari is available in seven exterior paints: Cosmic Gold, Galactic Sapphire, Lunar Slate, Oberon Black, Stardust Ash, Stellar Frost, and Supernova Copper. The new Harrier has a fuel efficiency of 16.80km/l for manual and 14.60km/l for automatic. In comparison to previous fuel economy figures, the manual model improves by 0.45km/l from 16.35km/l, while the automatic model remains the same. The revised Safari's claimed fuel efficiency is 16.30km/l for the manual and 14.50km/l for the automatic, reflecting a minor increase of 0.14km/l and 0.42km/l over the pre-facelift models, respectively. With the price announcement scheduled for tomorrow in India, let's take a closer look at the updated SUVs.

2023 Tata Harrier, Safari SUVs: Exterior 

The overall look of the Harrier and the Safari facelifts has greatly improved. The new Tata Safari has a redesigned front end with an updated grille, headlamps, and fog light casings. Additionally, the SUV sports integrated LED DRLs that run the length of the hood, and new alloy wheels. Besides the new Safari, as well as its sibling, the Harrier, boasts a connected light bar design at the back.

Moving on, the 2023 Harrier features a more modern look that radiates a sporty feel instead of a rugged one. The SUV has undergone changes on the outside with redesigned bumpers, a grille, split-type LED headlamps, connecting-type LED DRL and other improvements.

In terms of technological amenities, the upcoming Tata SUVs consist of a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ambient lighting, a redesigned gear lever with a mode selector dial, an air purifier, a 360-degree surround camera, an ADAS suite, a four-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo, a 10-speaker JBL system, powered and ventilated front seats, a wireless charger, an all-digital instrument cluster with navigation, and more.

2023 Tata Harrier, Safari SUVs: Engine and Mileage

The upcoming Harrier and the Safari will run on the same 2.0-litre diesel engine, yielding 168bhp with a 6-speed manual or automated transmission. The new Harrier has a manual fuel efficiency of 16.80 km/l and an automated fuel efficiency of 14.60 km/l. The asserted fuel efficiency for the revamped Safari is 16.30km/l for the manual and 14.50km/l for the automatic.

With regard to safety, the SUVs include a plethora of features such as up to seven airbags, one of which will be for the driver's knees. In addition, the Harrier and Safari comes equipped with level-2 ADAS technology that includes 17 driver assistance capabilities. Among the other safety features are ABS with EBD, ESP, tyre pressure monitoring system, cruise control, driver attention alert, hill descent control, emergency call, and breakdown alert.

2023 Tata Harrier, Safari SUVs: Price

The previous iterations of the Harrier and Safari SUVs cost between Rs 15.19 lakh and Rs 24.26 lakh, and Rs 15.84 lakh and Rs 25.21 lakh, respectively. These are ex-showroom figures. According to industry reports, the revised models will be priced similarly, however, the top-spec variants may charge a significant premium.
