The 2024 Renault Kardian has officially made its debut internationally. The new SUV, which is built on an updated CMF-B platform, will initially go on sale in Latin America before heading to other emerging markets outside of Europe. The compact, modern, tech-focused Kardian is tailor-made for South Americans and is expected to go on sale in Brazil in 2024, followed by Morocco. Even though the Renault Kardian is unlikely to arrive on our shores, this SUV will serve as the basis for India-spec C-SUVs. In the Indian market, the Kiger, the Triber, and the Kwid currently form the Renault lineup, while the third-generation Duster will make its way into the country by 2025 and will go toe-to-toe with the Kia Seltos, the Hyundai Creta, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, etc. Overseas, the 2024 Kardian, which has an Indian equivalent in the form of the Kiger, comes with a unique Renault double-layer grille, split headlamps, and muscular front and rear bumpers.
Other exterior highlights include faux aluminium accents, a shark-fin antenna, chunky cladding on the wheel arches, a flat bonnet, C-shaped taillamps, 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, roof rails, etc. Fabrice Cambolive, CEO, Renault, said, "Renault’s entire DNA and expertise are present in Kardian, with the new design style and technologies that are innovative for the segment, useful and well-thought-out, and bring considerable value to our customers. This vehicle clearly reinforces and modernises our B-segment range – first in Latin America, then in other markets such as Morocco."
2024 Renault Kardian: Interior
The dashboard of the Kardian is dominated by an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment, a drive mode selector, and a 4-spoke steering wheel. Faux aluminium and wood inserts, eight ambient lighting options, and driving modes are other feature bits. As far as safety goes, the new SUV is loaded with 6 airbags and 13 advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), including a multi-view camera system and a blind spot warning system.
2024 Renault Kardian: Powertrain, Performance
Coming to the heart of the matter, the all-new Kardian is equipped with a 1.0-litre GDi turbo-petrol engine that is mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission. This flex-fuel-compatible engine is capable of churning out 123bhp and 220Nm of peak torque, making the Kardian more powerful than the Kiger (99bhp/160Nm).
Measuring 4,120mm long, 1,750mm wide, and 1,540mm tall, the 2024 Renault Kardian is a compact urban B-segment vehicle. It is the first of eight models that Renault will launch between now and 2027. All 8 models will be based on the modular and 'highly versatile' CMF-B platform.
