Bigger Land Rover Defender 130 confirmed

The Land Rover Defender 130 will be longer than the 110 variant and will offer seating for eight with three usable seats in the third row. We expect the Defender 130 India launch to follow soon after the international unveil on May 31.

The Land Rover Defender 130 will be unveiled on May 31.

The new Land Rover Defender has taken the market by storm. It offers breathtaking off-road abilities, an old-school cool look, and lots of creature comforts. And what's more, now up to eight people can enjoy all that simultaneously in the Defender 130. Yes, you read it right – eight people.

The Defender 130 will be a three-row SUV, with the last row offering enough space for three people – essentially, a 2-3-3 seating configuration. While the Defender 130 certainly isn’t one of the first SUVs to offer seating space for eight people – India’s very own Force Toofan can carry up to 17 people – it is one of the players on the more premium side of the market to do so.

In terms of styling, the Defender 130 should look similar to the 110, with a more pronounced overhang and (most likely) a longer wheelbase. The longer rear overhang might compromise the off-road cred of the Defender 130 to an extent, but it should still be pretty handy on the rough stuff.

Expect the Defender 130 to make its way to India soon after its international unveil, with deliveries starting either towards the end of the year or early next year. It is expected to have a starting price of around Rs 1 crore.
