Citroen reportedly plans to expand its model lineup for India. According to several online reports, the French carmaker will launch an all-new C3X Crossover in sometime 2024. A while ago, it pulled covers from the highly-awaited Citroen C3 Aircross SUV. This mid-size SUV will presumably hit Indian roads by the end of 2023. Coming to the new crossover, Citroen hasn't confirmed anything yet. However, some reports say that the French automaker will increase its Indian model range by adding the crossover named C3X, which will likely be based on localised Common Modular Platform (CMP). Although the information on the expected model from Citroen is scarce, several industry reports have revealed its potential characteristics. Let's take a look at all the anticipated features of the crossover, which will reportedly mark its presence in the Indian market sometime next year.

Citroen C3X: Design

On the design front, the C3X will probably have a front-end appearance similar to the C3 Aircross. However, it will come with a sharply tapered roofline that ends in a notchback-type tailboard. Dimensionally, the model will expectedly have a length of 4.3 to 4.4 metres and a wheelbase similar to that of the C3 Aircross SUV. Aside from this, the new offering from Citroen could sport alloy wheels, a rugged-looking plastic body wrapping all around, and ground clearance equivalent to the C3 Aircross. On the inside, the C3X may get a fully digital instrument cluster, 10-inch infotainment system, dashboard, steering wheel, seats, and HVAC controls, just like the C3 Aircross. According to industry reports, the C3X will be a one-of-a-kind offering in the nation and engrave a distinct market niche for itself in the mid-size sedan market.

Citroen C3X: Powertrain

The C3X will likely have the CMP modular architecture, found with the Citroen C3 and C3 Aircross. For propulsion, the upcoming crossover could get a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, like its SUV sibling, the C3 Aircross, that can produce a maximum of 108bhp of power and 190Nm of torque. A six-speed manual transmission will probably be used for gearbox chores, however, a manual option may also be available. Additionally, reports suggest that an electric powertrain option may be available in the future.

Citroen C3X: Market Rivals & Availability

The firm hasn't officially shared a word on the release date of the C3X. However, speculations have been made that the new model could enter our market sometime around 2024. The electric version of the car is also anticipated to mark its debut in India after the launch of the ICE-powered model. As far as market competition is concerned, the new crossover will compete with the likes of the Volkswagen Virtus, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, the Skoda Slavia, and more.
