Lexus unveiled its first compact crossover entry-level, the NX. It is aimed to lure younger buyers looking for the right mix of size, style, and luxury. Built on a new platform and related to the RAV4, the NX is a looker with its sharp, sculpted creases on its body, which make it look unique. It also gets the typical Lexus design elements like the spindle grille and L-shaped running lights help it fit in with the rest of its brand.
Lexus wanted the interiors to ooze of style and chief designer Tetsuo Miki has done exactly that with a combination of structural good looks and luxurious but functional materials and textures. The driver’s cockpit reaps the full benefit of Lexus’s advances in HMI technology, combined with elements that reflect the NX’s SUV status, such as soft leather kneepads either side of the prominent centre console.
The cabin provides ample space for everyone on board, with the front-to-rear couple distance is a 962mm and the high roof design provides exceptional head clearance.
Currently the new crossover is available in two trims -- the petrol powered NX 200t with 235 hp and the 194 hp NX 300h hybrid. Total luggage capacity in the hybrid version is 555 litres and 580 litres in the turbo petrol one.
