Giving their race vehicles a track-oriented makeover to meet the needs of affluent auto enthusiasts is not something new for automobile manufacturers. Mercedes-AMG's new GT2 Pro, which has been revealed for the global market, is a recent addition to this segment. Ferrari also unveiled the 499P Modificata a few days ago, which is a track-focused vehicle based on the Le Mans-winner 499P race car. With these two non-competitive variants based on race vehicles from different companies, potential customers in this market now have greater options. According to the German automaker, the new Mercedes-AMG GT2 Pro delivers excellent driving pleasure with its unique design and remarkable performance improvements. The car has a striking matte grey paint finish that is accentuated by decorative racing stripes and GT2 Pro badges.

Other design elements of the car include bright-finished carbon components, two-tone 18-inch AMG lightweight alloy wheels, reworked rear wings, and more. The car's interior is improved by opulent features that add to the overall appeal. Let's explore a few of the other standout features of this new and track-ready Mercedes-AMG GT2 Pro.

Mercedes-AMG GT2 Pro: Performance Upgrades

Due to the absence of regulations that govern the racing competition, the new Mercedes-AMG GT2 Pro gets some performance gains over its race version. The vehicle is powered by the same 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V-8 engine but now includes a new Push2Pass system. This function enables the engine's output to be temporarily increased from a standard 697bhp to an astonishing 739bhp at the press of a button.

The 6-speed sequential gearbox positioned at the rear axle of the track car is the same, but the gear ratios are changed to let the engine rev higher and produce greater power. The track-focused GT2 Pro also has enhanced aerodynamics to provide more downforce than the racing model. The rear wing has larger endplates. Further, the set of four-way adjustable shock absorbers is included with the new GT2 Pro, while the racing machine currently has only three-way adjustable parts.
