The Maybach nameplate has been resurrected by the German luxury car maker and has been officially unveiled as the all-new Mercedes-Maybach S Class. The new Maybach S Class was unveiled almost simultaneously in its two key markets of the USA and China - at an event in Guangzhou and at the LA Motor Show.

At 5453mm long and with a wheelbase of 3365mm, the flagship of the Mercedes-Benz model range is 20cm larger in both dimensions than the long wheelbase version of the S-Class Saloon. That means that the rear passengers in the Maybach will benefit from this increased size as well as from standard equipment that includes executive seats, and other exclusive details such as innovative voice amplification. In the rear, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is also the world's quietest production saloon car. The Maybach S Class can be visually distinguished from the S Class Saloon on the outside by subtle modifications to the front grille along with “Maybach” badging.

The top-of-the-range model is the Mercedes-Maybach S 600. This variant will get the 5,980cc V12 biturbo engine that has an output of 530bhp and a maximum torque of 830Nm available from 1900rpm. Then there is the smaller V8 biturbo engine in the Mercedes-Maybach S 500 that generates an output of 455bhp from a displacement of 4,663cc, and its peak torque is 700Nm.

The market launch of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is scheduled for February 2015.
