Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the facelifted SLK roadster, badged as the SLC as part of the new nomenclature followed by the German luxury car manufacturer.

The SLC consists of five models, with power output varying from 156 bhp in the entry-level variant to 367 bhp in the top-of-the-line AMG version. A diesel trim is also on offer.

The SLC 180 and SLC 200 come with a six speed manual transmission as standard, while the remaining three trims are fitted with a nine-speed automatic gearbox.

The SLC comes equipped with an Active Brake Assist system which carries out autonomous braking to reduce the danger of rear-end collisions. This system is activated when the driver fails to react to a possible collision, despite warning lights on instrumental cluster and audio alerts.

On the design front, Mercedes’ latest offering features a diamond radiator grille, with its prominent logo in the middle. The grille is finished in black in lower variants, while the AMG gets chrome finishing.

Inside, the SLC sports a new instrument cluster and a 4.5 inch multifunctional display. The three-spoke steering wheel in nappa leather/DINAMICA microfibre is available as an option.

In addition to the standard vario roof, there is a choice between the panoramic vario roof with a large glass element and the panoramic vario roof with MAGIC SKY CONTROL selectable brightness control.

The international prices of the SLC will be announced next month when the car is expected to make its public debut at the Detroit Motor Show.
