Nissan Motor India Records 8% YoY Decline in April 2024, Sells 2,404 Magnites

Nissan Motor India has reported wholesales of 2,404 units of the Magnite in the domestic market in April 2024, a year-on-year de-growth of 8 per cent compared to 2,617 units sold in April 2023.

Nissan Motor India has reported wholesales of 2,404 units of the Magnite in the domestic market in April 2024, a year-on-year de-growth of 8 per cent compared to 2,617 units sold in April 2023. However, it has managed to export over 600 (639, to be precise) vehicles (including the Nissan Sunny) to global markets, marking a marginal increase of 1 per cent year-on-year (362 units: April 2023). In terms of cumulative sales, the sales figure stood at 3,043 units for April 2024, whereas April 2023 saw the company record 3,249 units. 

In the financial year 2023-24, Nissan sold 30,146 units of the Magnite SUV in India, down from 32,546 units in the last fiscal year. This is the third consecutive year that the Magnite sales have surpassed the 30,000-unit mark. Notably, the Nissan Magnite is the only model on sale in the country. Launched in December 2020, the compact SUV is priced from 6 lakh to Rs 10.91 lakh. The prices are ex-showroom.

Nissan Magnite: Engine, Output  

Underneath the skin, the Magnite SUV gets two engine options: a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated (NA) engine with 71bhp and 96Nm, and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with 99bhp and 160Nm. The turbo-petrol mill comes standard with a five-speed manual gearbox and an optional CVT that reduces torque to 152Nm; the naturally aspirated petrol engine, on the other hand, is mated to a 5-speed automatic gearbox. The company offers the Magnite in different configurations: XE, XL, XV, XV Premium, Kuro Edition, and Geza Edition. 

Nissan Magnite: Features

The interior of the Magnite SUV is equipped with an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, a 7.0-inch digital instrument panel, and auto air conditioning with rear vents. The XV and XV Premium variants also get ambient lighting, JBL speakers, puddle lamps, and wireless phone charging. Safety-wise, the SUV offers electronic stability control (ESC), a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), dual front airbags, a 360-degree camera, and hill-start assist.

Nissan Magnite: Rivals

In terms of market competition, the Nissan Magnite takes on the Hyundai Exter, Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, and Renault Kiger.

What Next?

Nissan is readying the facelifted version of the Magnite for India launch, which will likely happen sometime this year. The facelifted version is expected to bring in visual enhancements and additional features. Having said that, one can expect the engine options to be carried over from the outgoing version.
