Connected car technologies seem to be the way going forward. Just a few years back, Honda introduced the Honda Connect, and it is now Nissan’s turn to join the bandwagon. The ‘NissanConnect’ is available for all Nissan car owners including the Micra, Sunny and Terrano. This new application is an integrated information and communications platform that connects the customer to the car.

The NissanConnect has been developed specifically for the Indian market by Renault Nissan Technology Business Centre India (RNTBCI). This connected car technology will come factory fitted from Nissan with embedded Telematics Control Unit paired with an inbuilt SIM for every car and a dedicated server. It offers more than 50 connected car features that make driving a stress-free affair. From finding the nearest fuel station, sharing your trips on social media, to finding the nearest service centre, the NissanConnect can be quite a useful application. To make life easier, customers can also book service of their cars in advance using the application.

Krishnan Sundararajan, managing director, Renault Nissan Technology Business Centre India added, “The emergence of Internet of Things (IoT) is shifting gears in the automotive industry, leading it to its most significant innovation phase and ushering in new opportunities. We are privileged to be a part of this unprecedented journey. With NissanConnect, we aim to provide an effortless driving experience integrated with our customers' connected lifestyle while maintaining data security”.

The NissanConnect is available for Android, iOS and Windows platforms. Customers have to contact the dealership to activate the NissanConnect on the purchase of their cars. Nissan is offering the service free of cost for three years.
