The Tata Altroz Racer, the sportier version of the Altroz hatchback, will be launched in early June in India. Upon arrival, the Altroz Racer will slot above the Tata Altroz XZ iTurbo, which is priced from Rs 9.20 lakh to Rs 10.10 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Showcased at this year's Bharat Mobility Expo, the Altroz Racer is 3,990mm long, 1,755mm wide, 1,523mm high, and has a wheelbase of 2,501mm, putting it in the same segment as the Maruti Suzuki Fronx Turbo and the Hyundai i20 N Line. Meanwhile, the Fronx Turbo and the i20 N Line measure 3,995mm in length, as well as 1,765mm and 1,775mm in width, respectively. While the Fronx is the tallest of the three, the i20 N Line boasts of the longest wheelbase of 2,580mm.

Design-wise, the production-spec Tata Altroz Racer should get a dual-tone paint scheme – vibrant orange with contrasting black – like the one we saw at the Bharat Mobility Expo. This paint scheme will come along with white racing stripes on the hood and roof. Also, we expect the Altroz Racer to feature blacked-out outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs), pillars, and diamond-cut alloys (16 inches), further highlighting the sporty character of the vehicle.

For an additional dose of exclusivity, the Altroz Racer will wear the special 'Racer' badging, while there will also be a new rear spoiler. Save for the orange and red colours seen on the cars at the 2024 Bharat Mobility Expo and the 2023 Auto Expo, respectively, the other options are yet to be revealed.

Tata Altroz Racer: Interior

The interior of the Tata Altroz Racer will likely sport an all-black leatherette upholstery with contrast red stitching, as well as the Racer badging on the headrests. The feature list will likely include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a heads-up display, a voice-assisted sunroof, aluminium pedals, ventillated front seats, rear AC vents, and a wireless charger. Safety-wise, we expect six airbags and ESC (electronic stability control) as standard, in addition to a 360-degree surround camera.

Tata Altroz Racer: Powertrain

Under the hood, the performance-oriented version of the hatchback, the Altroz Racer, will get a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, which also powers the Tata Nexon. The engine in the latter churns out 118bhp at 5,500rpm and 170Nm of peak torque at 1,750rpm to 4,000rpm. For the Altroz Racer, Tata may offer a 6-speed manual transmission only.
