Gogoro, a Taiwan-based EV maker, is preparing to enter the Indian two-wheeler industry and will host a press conference on November 3 to discuss its objectives. The firm has already collaborated with Hero MotoCorp to jointly develop vehicles as well as the infrastructure for vehicle swapping.

According to Gogoro's announcement, during the press conference, the company will highlight how it plans to work to decarbonise India's urban mobility and last-mile sector and lay out its 'vision for smart energy and urban transportation.' As a result, Gogoro may possibly be considering the launch of B2B products for applications involving last-mile deliveries. In addition, Gogoro is anticipated to offer B2C products for individual customers.

Gogoro provides a variety of low- and high-speed electric scooters in global markets and its USP is a robust battery swapping system, with the majority of its variants having removable battery packs. Although specifics of Gogoro's plans for India are yet unknown, it is rumoured that the manufacturer may enter the e-scooter market with the S1. The firm intends to introduce this model in India with the hope that it would be as successful here as it has been in Gogoro's native market in Taiwan.

A mid-mounted motor with a maximum torque of 27Nm and a peak output of 9.65bhp powers the Gogoro S1. It is connected to a swappable lithium-ion battery pack with a stated range of 150 kilometres at a 30km/h cruising speed.

Meanwhile, Gogoro may also seek to bring its most cost-effective product—likely the Gogoro Viva—to India for B2B operations. This vehicle has a smaller 4bhp motor that produces 85Nm at the wheel. The stated range is 85 kilometres at 30km/h. If launched in India, the Indianised Gogoro S1 will face up against feature-rich e-scooters like the Hero Vida V1 Pro, Ather 450X and Ola S1 Pro.
