Hector SUV and ZS EV Help MG India Register 21% Sales Growth in H1 2023

MG Motor India recently reported domestic sales of 29,000 cars during the first half of 2023. Compared to 24,000 units sold during the same month previous year, the company saw a 21 per cent increase in sales in H1 2023.

MG Motor India recently reported domestic sales of 29,000 cars during the first half of 2023. Compared to 24,000 units sold during the same month previous year, the company saw a 21 per cent increase in sales in H1 2023. According to the automaker, the MG ZS EV and the 2023 MG Hector SUV both made a substantial contribution to the increase in sales. In March 2023, the brand also reported its highest-ever retail sales of 6,051 units. With 115,000 vehicles exported to the European market, MG Motor experienced a 143 per cent YoY growth as well. In the first half of 2023, sales of MG's NEVs made up 50 per cent of all sales. Meanwhile, the British manufacturer unveiled its five-year business roadmap to improve its business operations for ensure future growth. The brand, which is owned by Shanghai Automotive, the biggest automaker in China, aims to invest US$100 million to increase capacity at its current facility in Halol, Gujarat, and diversify its product line to include more electric vehicles.

MG Europe Sales: H1 2023

With 115,000 vehicles sold in the European market, MG Motor has seen success there, representing an impressive 143 per cent rise year over year. According to compelling figures, MG's New Energy Vehicles (NEVS) accounted for more than 50 per cent of all sales between January and June. With a vast network of more than 830 locations, the brand is present across 28 European nations. Significantly, MG has continuously delivered more than 20,000 vehicles per month for four straight months, demonstrating its dominant position in the European auto market.

2023 ZS EV Launched in India 

The 2023 MG ZS EV with ADAS Level-2 features was launched in India this month for a starting price of Rs 27.89 lakh (ex-showroom). The Autonomous Level 2 (ADAS) system in the MG ZS EV improves passenger safety and the driving experience by operating on three degrees of sensitivity: low, medium, and high, as well as three levels of warning: haptic, audio, and visual. Traffic Jam Assist (TJA), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), and Speed Assist System (SAS) are all included in the ADAS package. In addition, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Lane Functions are intended to lessen driver fatigue.

The ZS EV also has a driving range of 461-kilometre on a single charge thanks to its 50.3kWh sophisticated prismatic battery, which gives it a futuristic appearance and wide SUV stance. The prismatic battery has one of the best real-world ranges in its segment and a battery warranty of 8 years. The 8-layer hairpin motor in the ZS EV produces 174bhp of maximum power and accelerates the vehicle from 0 to 100km/h in approximately 8.5 seconds. There are three driving modes available for the car: Eco, Normal, and Sport. Full LED Hawkeye headlights and LED taillamps are standard on the ZS EV. The SUV is available in three variations: Excite, Exclusive, and Exclusive Pro. The wheels are R17 Tomahawk hub design alloy. Glaze Red, Aurora Silver, Starry Black, and Candy White are the four colour options buyers can choose from.

The ZS EV has more than 75 connected car features, including the industry's first digital key that lets you lock, unlock, start, and even drive the vehicle without a physical key. The SUV also includes a segment-leading 10.1-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system in addition to a full digital instrument panel with a 7-inch integrated LCD screen. A first-in-segment 360-degree around view camera with rear parking sensors and a Hill Descent Control (HDC), another class-best feature, are available on the MG ZS EV in terms of safety. The car boasts six airbags—dual, front, side, and curtain—along with hill-start assist, electronic stability control, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and other safety features.
