Rahul Bajaj, Former Chairman Of Bajaj Group, Dies At 83

Rahul Bajaj, former Chairman of the Bajaj Group passed away at 83. An official statement from the Bajaj Group said that the industrialist died in the "presence of his closest family members". He passed away on the afternoon of February 12, 2022, at 14:30hrs.

Rahul Bajaj, former Chairman of the Bajaj Group passed away at 83. An official statement from the Bajaj Group said that the industrialist died in the "presence of his closest family members". He passed away on the afternoon of February 12, 2022, at 14:30hrs.

He suffered from pneumonia and also a heart problem. Rahul Bajaj was admitted to the hospital the last month.

Rahul Bajaj was born on June 10, 1938. He took over as the Chief Executive Officer of Bajaj Auto in 1968. In 1972, Rahul Bajaj was appointed as the Managing. Under Rahul Bajaj’s watch, Bajaj saw a turnover growth of Rs 12,000 crore from just Rs 7.2 crore.

Rahul Bajaj was awarded the third-highest civilian award, Padma Bhushan, in 2001. He stepped down from that position in 2005. Bajaj also served as a Rajya Sabha MP from 2006-10.

The post of non-executive Chairman of Bajaj Auto was forwarded to Niraj Bajaj, his cousin, after Rahul Bajaj stepped down, in April 2021.

Sanjiv Bajaj, the younger son of Rahul Bajaj took over as the chairman of both Bajaj Finance and Bajaj Finserv.

Bajaj will be cremated with full state honours on Sunday, said Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
