This new facility is spread across 50,000 sq. ft. and it will serve as the primary development site for the STLA SmartCockpit.

Stellantis has inaugurated a new software centre in Bengaluru, India. According to the firm, the decision is consistent with the long-term 'Dare Forward 2030' strategic plan and CEO Carlos Tavares' ambition of starting a new chapter for Stellantis in India. Currently, the company has two global innovation centres in India; the first is in Hyderabad, Telangana, while the second is in Bengaluru.

The facility in Bengaluru will contribute to the development of technology and software breakthroughs, vital for the growth of automobiles and mobility. The new centre, which spans 50,000 square feet, will be the primary development centre for STLA SmartCockpit, one of three technology platforms that are fundamental to the company's strategy for digital transformation and are scheduled to be implemented throughout its four vehicle platforms in 2024. Additionally, STLA AutoDrive's AI and ADAS technologies will be developed in significant part at the Bengaluru centre.

Moreover, base software platforms built using the Classic and Adaptive Autosar frameworks will be backed by the Bengaluru-based Base Software Development team. Yves Bonnefont, Chief Software Officer at Stellantis, and the Stellantis India top management team officially opened the new centre. Modern laboratories, including a next-generation acoustic lab, will be located in the Bengaluru facility and will be used to create unique audio signatures and premium audio experiences for Stellantis vehicle owners all over the world.

Commenting on the occasion, Yves Bonnefont said, 'Stellantis is proud to contribute to the age of software-defined vehicles. As a global organisation, we are committed to fostering talent across geographies. The Indian tech talent and its innovative startup ecosystem are important to accelerating Stellantis’ transformation to a sustainable mobility tech company. India plays a key role in Stellantis’ digital approach and development.'
