<p>The scooter is a bit weird to look at, but looks somewhat better than the Navi. I like the instrument cluster as it is very clear. I also feel an external fuel-filling would have been nice, but unfortunately it is not offered. Engine may be the same as Activa&rsquo;s, but it is not zippy. And that rear carrier is jutting out very abruptly. My wife says it is a vehicle for kirana shop owners.</p>

<p>I bought this scooter. I liked it for its unique design, but seat is slightly narrow. I think I prefer Activa&#39;s seat as it is wide. Engine of course is smooth, and parking in tight spots is easy.</p>

<p>Visually, the CB 125 Hornet is a stunner. It takes design inspirations from its bigger Hornet siblings. Its sharp lines, muscular bodywork, and a purposeful stance can easily make you mistake it for a 200cc or even a 250cc machine. The gold-anodised USD fork, sculpted fuel tank, contoured seat, and compact tail section further add to its premium appeal. The paint finish and build quality are top-notch – easily among the best we’ve seen from Honda in recent years. <p>Powering the CB 125 Hornet is a 124cc single-cylinder engine, which produces 11bhp and 11.2Nm of torque and is paired with a 5-speed gearbox. On paper, these numbers may seem underwhelming, but on the road, the bike feels peppy, smooth, and responsive – exactly what you’d expect from an smart urban commuter. The throttle response is crisp, and the engine revs cleanly, making city commutes effortless and fun. At 124kg, the Hornet is light, agile, and quite flickable, making negotiating traffic or tight corners an easy affair.</p>

<p>During the timing runs at the BIC, the Hornet surprised us all by holding its own. It managed a lap time of 1:28.0, even edging out the more powerful Kawasaki KLX230 – an impressive feat for a 125cc commuter. Sure, it’s not built for the track, but it exhibited impressive poise, balance, and composure that exceeded expectations. The brakes are good enough to inspire confidence, and the chassis is tight and predictable, encouraging you to push harder. The CB 125 Hornet is going to shake things up in the sporty 125 cc commuter space, taking the fight to the likes of the TVS Raider 125 and the Hero Xtreme 125R, both of which have done well in the Indian market. A 125 cc commuter showdown then is just what the doctor ordered. Time to make a few calls, then.</p>

<p>In the real world, all this means a motorcycle that’s not only fun to ride but also comfortable and practical. It might not be the fastest 125cc machine on the road, but it’s easily one of the most desirable. So, if you want a commuter that looks stylishly sharp, feels premium, and is relatively easy on the pocket, the CB Hornet 125 is the one to beat.

Honda CB 125 Hornet Wins Bike of the Year - autoX Awards 2025

Visually, the Honda CB 125 Hornet is a stunner. Its sharp lines, muscular bodywork, and a purposeful stance can easily make you mistake it for a 200cc or even a 250cc machine.

    The Activa is a well-known name in the scooter market, and deservedly so. After all, it has shattered various sales records for Honda. So, when Honda decided to launch an electric version of the Activa – the Activa e – we expected it to deliver on all fronts. However, that was not the case. It looks smart, feels solid, and oozes brilliant quality just like other Honda products, but beyond that, things begin to feel rather underwhelming.</p>

<p>The Activa e comes with two swappable batteries, which are designed well, and don’t weigh a lot. However, the problem is that they can’t be charged at home – there is no way to plug in and charge the scooter or the batteries. Now, considering the Activa e is not what you’d call a competitively priced offering, the added battery subscription makes things worse. Had it been priced close to ₹1 lakh (ex-showroom), the value equation would have made more sense.</p>

<p>The swappable battery setup also eats into the very thing most scooter buyers care about – storage. The under-seat storage space is minimal, leaving little room for storing everyday items. <p>On the plus side, its 7-inch digital instrument cluster is one of its best features. It’s not a touchscreen, but that’s not a problem at all, given how smooth and responsive its interface is. The buttons on the handlebar are also quite intuitive. The unit displays a wealth of information without cluttering the screen. The Activa e also comes with keyless operation, which is a nice touch; however, it’s more of a novelty than a real advantage.

While the EV looks like an ideal city companion,&nbsp;it’s important not to get too carried away just yet, as the Super-ONE is still a prototype. <p>Honda Motorcycle &amp; Scooter India have managed to pull off a coup by launching India's most affordable scooter, the Cliq, priced at Rs 42,499, ex-showroom Delhi. Aiming to dominate both the price-sensitive rural and semi-urban markets, <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/honda/">Honda</a> has again pushed the envelope by planning to shake up the entry level two-wheeler segment. So, basically, one can buy a scooter at the price of a 100cc motorcycle.</p>

<p>Honda decided to break traditions by not holding the Honda Cliq media ride at a metropolitan city, rather they took us to experience the real market, Jaipur. Even I was intrigued why Rajasthan, but once we were out for a spin on this new scooter, we met many potential customers asking us about&nbsp;the price, fuel efficiency and when can they book the scooter? That’s when I realised why we were riding this scooter in Jaipur.</p>

<p>Now we all know that the Activa is the sole reason why Honda has been able to dominate the sales charts and they have managed to rejig the scooter market in India when leading two-wheeler companies were washing their hands off this segment. But what if you could retain the legendary DNA of the Activa and not burn a hole in your pocket? Well according to the Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer, the answer is the Honda Cliq as its based on the Activa and is powered by the Activa’s 8bhp 109.19cc engine.</p>

<p>Honda has gone the quirky way with the Cliq’s design. It might not have the wow factor, but it certainly does manage to stand out in the crowd or rather traffic. The stocky apron houses a big chunky headlamp and the side panels have a unique resemblance to the Navi. The instrument cluster houses a large basic speedometer along with a trip meter and fuel gauge below it. The floor board has just about enough space for your feet and an additional bag. The Honda Cliq also gets storage place underneath the seat, but space is limited as it can only house a half faced helmet and some knick knacks. The new scooter also comes with a 12 Volt power outlet beneath the seat. If you have additional luggage to ferry around the town then have no fear, Honda’s offering a range of optional accessories like a lockable storage box that can be fixed on floor board or one can opt for a traditional rear carrier, which comes with four hooks to handbags. There two things that drew some criticism. First, it would have been very convenient for the rider if the Honda Cliq came with external fuel filling feature which quite common on other scooters. Secondly, the plastic quality and switches are very basic.</p>

<p>We fired up the engine by pressing the start button and twisted the throttle. To our surprise, the initial pickup wasn’t as zippy as the Navi even though both have the same engine capacity and also have similar power output. But once the Cliq hits the mid range power band, it picks up speed quickly. The scooter did manage to hover around 80kmph, but as it only weighs 102kg, it didn’t feel very stable. The Honda Cliq gets the same 10-inch wheel size like the Activa but it comes with new tubeless block pattern tyres, which provide good grip on and off the tarmac. We also rode the scooter on mild sandy stretches and it managed to remain steady.</p>

<p>Summing it up, Honda has got the pricing spot on and by forking out an additional Rs 500, one has an option to buy the graphics stickered Delux model. The Cliq is powered by a reliable 110cc engine and even though it only has a 3.5-litre petrol tank, the company claims it's mileage will be in the region of 60kmpl. It is also equipped with Combi Brake System, which proportionately distributes the braking force between the front and rear wheels simultaneously when the left rear brake lever is pressed. Honda has done another smart thing by lowering the seat height to 743mm, this makes the Honda Cliq an ideal scooter to ride for both men and women. The Cliq is available in four colours – Patriotic Red with White, Black, Moroccan Blue with White and Orcus Grey. So will the Honda Cliq manage to create a revolution in the entry two-wheelers segment? Only time will tell.</p>
