The new Ather 450X comes with a bigger battery which means a longer range and better performance.

Ather Energy has launched the Gen-3 450X in India with prices starting at Rs 1.55 lakh (ex-showroom, Bangalore). In its new generation, the scooter comes with a host of new features that enhance its performance and ride consistency.

For starters, the 450X Gen 3 is now equipped with a bigger and more powerful 3.7 kWh battery that is 25% larger than the previous generation, giving an ARAI-certified range of 146 km. The new gen 450X also gets a new ‘Smart Eco Mode’ that is claimed to allow riders to use ‘Ride’ mode whilst offering the range of ‘Eco’ mode. The upgraded version will offer five ride modes – Warp, Sport, Ride, SmartEco, and Eco. The maximum power output in Warp mode is 8.5bhp.

The Ather 450X Gen3 comes with an all-aluminium frame, and wider rear tyres, which Ather says has been achieved by a newer compound and improved tread profile, leading to a 22% better grip in all weather conditions. Speaking of which, Ather has also introduced Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) as an accessory.

On the UI/UX front, the new Ather 450X Gen 3 gets an upgraded dashboard, a re-designed Ather stack, and an upgraded 2 GB RAM. Ather also says that features including voice commands, multi-language support, heavier graphics, deeper diagnostics, and more are in the pipeline for the scooter. An upgraded RAM also means better performance in higher temperatures.

In terms of design, the new 450X Gen3 gets new mirrors that are designed with single-cast aluminium and appear as a natural extension of the scooter. The scooter also comes with an all-new sidestep which is also made of single-cast aluminium.

Other aspects of the scooter remain the same. The boot space continues to accommodate 22 litres of space, the 7.0-inch touchscreen system, front, and rear disc brakes with regen, 12-inch alloy wheels, a telescopic fork, and a belt drive system.

The new iteration of the 450X will be available in all experience centres across the country from the 20th of July 2022. Ather Energy said that it has been receiving a strong response for its e-scooter range and continues to grow at 25% quarter-on-quarter. The new updates have balanced the scales between the 450X and its rivals like the Ola S1 Pro, Bajaj Chetak, Simple One and others.
