Ahead of the April 2019 deadline for the new two-wheeler safety norms, TVS has updated its entire Apache RTR model line-up to include ABS.

TVS Motor Company has announced that its entire Apache RTR series is now available with ABS. While the RTR 180 and RTR 200 4V R 2.0 were already ABS-equipped, TVS has now introduced the safety update on the RTR 160 and RTR 160 4V as well. As part of the update, however, TVS has now given the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, RTR 180 and the newly-announced RTR 160 2V (shown in image) a SuperMoto ABS unit. This new-generation ABS unit has been specifically developed for Apache motorcycles and has a special algorithm that draws heavily from a track-riding setup. Meanwhile, the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Race Edition 2.0 continues to be offered with dual-channel ABS and RLP (Rear wheel Lift-off Protection) Control.

Commenting on this, Mr KN Radhakrishnan, Director & CEO of TVS Motor Company, said, ‘Since its inception, the TVS Apache series has revolutionised performance biking by introducing cutting-edge technology from its factory racing versions. In 2011, we were the 1st manufacturer to introduce twin-channel ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) on the Apache RTR 180 in the Indian two-wheeler industry. In keeping with this tradition, today, we are delighted to announce the inclusion of SuperMoto ABS across RTR 160, RTR 160 4V and the RTR 180 versions. This one-of-a-kind race-tuned ABS technology ensures maximum dynamic performance along with cutting-edge safety to our consumers. The motorcycles are already on sale to ensure proactive compliance with the regulatory requirements laid down by the Government of India.’

TVS also took this opportunity to announce the new Apache RTR 160 2V (ABS), which will offer some new race-inspired features. It’ll come equipped with an all-new, back-lit speedometer with dial-art, new seats and new handlebar end dampeners for better stability and precision. Further visual upgrades include TVS Racing's new livery.
