2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC India Launch Tomorrow: Here's What to Expect

Mercedes-Benz India is set to launch the all-new GLC SUV tomorrow. Pre-orders for the same, are already being accepted for a token amount of Rs 1.5 lakh. The second-generation GLC has additional features and will be offered in two variants: the GLC 300 4Matic and the GLC 220d 4Matic.

The next-generation GLC SUV by Mercedes-Benz is about to hit the Indian market. The Indian arm of the German luxury carmaker will be launching the 2023 iteration of the model in the country tomorrow. Pre-orders for the same, are already being accepted for a token amount of Rs 1.5 lakh. It can be reserved online through the manufacturer's official website or by heading to a Mercedes-Benz dealership nearby. The second-generation GLC has gained more features and will be available in the GLC 300 4Matic and GLC 220d 4Matic versions. Notably, the GLC has been one of the brand's strongest sellers in India and overseas. In June last year, the new-gen Mercedes-Benz GLC debuted in markets around the world. It has a sportier look and is dimensionally larger than the previous model, although the design represents a progression of the latter. Further, the firm claims that the GLC SUV will come standard with the 4Matic all-wheel-drive system, which is said to give exceptional traction on all surfaces. Here's everything you can expect from the upcoming SUV when it comes to engine, features, design, and more.

2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC: Powertrain Options

The GLC's powertrain options include 2.0-litre gasoline and diesel engines mated to a mild hybrid motor. The GLC 300 has been optimised to churn out 254bhp of maximum power and 400Nm of peak torque and claims to have a mileage of 14.72km/l, while the GLC 220d produces 194bhp of peak power and 400Nm of torque and boasts a mileage of 19.47km/l. Both mills are pre-configured with a nine-speed automatic transmission that features 4Matic technology.

Coming to the freshly designed cabin, a new-generation MBUX setup with a 12.3-inch driver display as well as an 11.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with biometric verification is present inside. The company has also replaced the seats, the steering wheel, and the air conditioning vents. Moreover, the GLC's MBUX trackpad has been swapped out for cubby holders and a wireless charging pad, just like the other newest Mercedes-Benz vehicles. 

The new SUV has improved ADAS along with a new off-road mode with a "transparent bonnet" function. Additionally, there is a heads-up display, 64-colour ambient lighting, a 360-degree camera, LED headlights, a panoramic sunroof, a Burmester surround system, and multi-zone temperature control. Engineering packages including rear-axle steering, airmatic air suspension, and progressive digital headlights are also available.

2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC: Anticipated Price and Rivals

In terms of price, the new GLC is expected to cost between Rs 65 lakh and Rs 70 lakh. When it launches in India, the model will be back in competition with the likes of the Volvo XC60, the BMW X3, the Lexus NX, and the Audi Q3, among others.

2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC: Appearance and Dimensions

The second-generation GLC is an improvement over the first-generation model. While maintaining the overall styling of the earlier car, the lines are smoother and flow more naturally with one another. The grille is bigger than it was previously, and the AMG-spec aesthetic kit gives it a sportier appearance. There are thinner LED taillamps in the back. Buyers have the option of ordering their GLC with 18 to 20-inch alloy wheels, although it is unclear which wheels would be included with the India-spec vehicle.

Five colour schemes are offered for the redesigned GLC: Nautic Blue, Mojave Silver, Selenite Grey, Polar White, and Obsidian Black. When compared to the previous version, the 2023 GLC is larger. The SUV has dimensions of 4,716mm in length, 2,075mm in width, and 1,640mm in height. The car's wheelbase has been slightly extended to 2,888mm. The auto major has increased the width of its front and rear tracks by 6mm and 23mm, respectively.
