Honda's first all-electric SUV is getting closer to your garage, with the Japanese automaker disclosing several new relevant details regarding the 2024 Prologue SUV. If not the most prominent, Honda has undoubtedly been the main manufacturer with the greatest gap in its production of electric vehicles. The company has been teasing the e-SUV for a long time now, with the first design sketches surfacing in May last year, followed by real images in October 2022. Now, almost a year later, the company has shared more details. When the model arrives on the market in early 2024, the pricing is expected to fall anywhere between USD 40,000 and USD 50,000. Complete pricing information will become available closer to launch, but reservations will start later this year with deliveries commencing in early 2024. Notably, the buyers can expect a driving range of up to 483-kilometre (300 miles).

The specifications of the upcoming model are completely consistent with comparable EV products on the market. The Prologue will be offered in three trim levels: base EX, mid-range Touring, and top-tier Elite. A motor is positioned in the front of standard versions, while a second motor is mounted in the back of all-wheel drive vehicles. Interestingly, the car manufacturer claims that the dual motor system produces 284bhp and 451Nm of torque, hinting that the single motor system has a distinct horsepower rating, but only the dual motor figures have been revealed as of now. The Prologue boasts a range of up to 483-kilometre (300 miles), while Honda claims the optional 21-inch wheels are the widest they have ever provided on a vehicle. Its 85kWh lithium-ion battery pack has a DC fast charging capacity of up to 155 kW.

2024 Honda Prologue: Charging Details

Regarding charging, Honda stated that each Prologue owner can choose from one of three charging packages on offer. These packages include both charging credits and installation incentives. The first is a USD 750 credit for public charging, which ought to be attractive to city commuters and EV owners. Additionally, customers have a choice between an 11.5 kW home charging station that includes a USD 500 installation incentive and a USD 100 public charging credit, or a 7.6 kW portable charging kit that includes a USD 250 installation incentive and a USD 300 public charging credit.

2024 Honda Prologue: Exterior and Interior Features

The crossover's bodywork embraces smooth curves and flowing surfaces while being aerodynamically tuned. Although 21-inch wheels will be optional, 19-inch wheels remain standard. The car has dimensions of 4,877mm in length and a 3,094mm wheelbase. Despite having a 277mm longer wheelbase, this results in the Prologue being 74mm longer than the Passport mid-size SUV. Furthermore, the Prologue is 203.2mm longer and 127mm broader overall than the Honda CR-V.

Inside, there are several innovative design elements, such as a two-tiered console, a multi-use tray between the seats that is large enough to accommodate two smartphones placed side by side, large cupholders, and wireless phone chargers. There is also all the standard tech equipment, including an 11-inch driver display, a second 11.3-inch infotainment screen running the Google operating system, multiple charging outlets, and OTA updates capability.

Meanwhile, the mid-range Touring model offers Black or Light Grey leather seats, a steering wheel wrapped in leather, a 12-speaker Bose premium sound system, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a panoramic sunroof, and a hands-free power liftgate. Lastly, the top-spec Elite trim includes the previously mentioned 21-inch wheels and all-wheel drive as standard. Similar to the Touring trim, it also features a heated leather steering wheel, heated and ventilated leather front seats, and a head-up display.

Honda's Electric Vision

It's evident that the Prologue SUV is just the beginning for Honda, as the brand plans to market all zero-emission vehicles by the year 2040. Moreover, the manufacturer is planning to introduce yet another electric vehicle (EV) in 2025 based on its own "e: Architecture" framework that is brand-specific. This vehicle may or may not be produced at the new EV Hub plant in Marysville, Ohio.
