Prices starting Rs 10.39 lakh, the Ford EcoSport Platinum Edition adds larger wheels and a new infotainment system

Ford has already revealed the facelifted EcoSport that is about to be launched in the Indian market later this year. But in the interim to spice up the sales charts and to keep in line with the recent trends, Ford has now introduced a Platinum Edition of the EcoSport. This Platinum Edition variant of the Ford EcoSport adds new features to the top-sped trim and has been priced at Rs 10.39 lakh for the 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol model and Rs 10.69 lakh for the diesel trim. All prices ex-showroom Delhi.

The Ford EcoSport Platinum Edition sports a dual-tone colour scheme for the exterior with a blacked-out roof and new 17-inch alloy wheels and wider tyres exclusive to the Platinum Edition. Ford has also made minor revisions to the front and rear bumpers. Not much has changed on the inside except for the addition of an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation and a reversing camera. The EcoSport Platinum Edition has only been launched in the 1.0-litre EcoBoost and the 1.5-litre diesel engine options. Both these versions have no mechanical changes.

Speaking about the launch, Anurag Mehrotra, executive director Marketing, Sales & Service at Ford India said, “The Platinum Edition is in keeping with our commitment to introduce products that Indian customers want and value. It introduces several upgrades that accentuate EcoSport’s bold design, enhance customer convenience and improve the driving dynamics of our compact SUV.”

It has been a while since the EcoSport was introduced and although Ford was one of the first car makers to bring in a sub-4 metre SUV, its sales have reduced over time especially since the launch of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. The launch of the EcoSport Platinum Edition is just a minor update as a stop-gap till the time the facelifted version is launched in India later this year.
