Genesis GV80 Coupe Globally Unveiled with 3.5-litre Turbo 48V Electric Supercharger Engine

The new Genesis GV80 Coupe has made its debut in Korea. The car comes packed with features such as a brand-new 27-inch display and a 3.5-litre turbo V6 engine with an electric supercharger. The automaker has also revealed the facelifted version of the GV80.

Genesis, a premium division of Hyundai Motor Co., has pulled the wraps off the GV80 Coupe for Korea, which is the automaker's first-ever coupe SUV. In addition, the Korean luxury brand revealed an updated version of its GV80 flagship SUV. Regarding the first-ever Coupe SUV, the automaker said ''Strikes a balance between bold athleticism and sleek elegance with its Parabolic Line and double-layered Crest Grille''. The GV80 Coupe is said to offer the practicality of an SUV with the sporty feel of a coupe while retaining the base model's looks and performance. The front of the Coupe SUV looks similar to the regular model, but upon closer inspection, a few differences can be seen. These include a slightly different skid plate and additional slits beneath the grille. Other exterior highlights of the Coupe include ''Expanded air intake, an Active Air Flap, and four air vents, which improve engine cooling while also contributing to the bold appeal'', and ''Coupe-exclusive 20- and 22-inch wheels with distinctive spokes''

The GV80 Coupe doesn't have the full-width LED taillights found on the concept version. It has a more aerodynamic roofline that ends with an integrated duck-tail rear spoiler. The rear bumper stands out with a distinct design, highlighted by black trim encasing the diffuser and quad exhaust pipes, which sets it apart from the standard GV80.

Genesis GV80 Coupe SUV: Interior and Powertrain

The interior of the Coupe is exclusive to this specific version with a two-tone D-cut steering wheel and carbon garnish patterns. The new model's brake and accelerator pedals now include metal accents to reduce the possibility of slipping while driving and to maximise high-performance sensitivity. Additionally, the back seats have the ability to recline, which is said to improve passenger comfort. The new model also includes the 27-inch display from the standard version. Customers will have a choice of six interior packages, providing them with the opportunity to create distinctive interior spaces.

The revised GV80 offers two powertrain options - a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine that produces 296bhp and 422Nm, and a turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 engine that generates 370bhp and 530Nm. In addition to these choices, the GV80 Coupe has a more powerful version of the 3.5-litre V6 mill that comes with a 48V electric supercharger. This upgrade enhances the power output to 403bhp and 549Nm. This model gets exclusive additional functions ''Sports+ driving mode, Launch Control, and a cluster that displays oil temperature, torque, turbo pressure, etc.''

Genesis GV80 Facelift: Key Highlights 

The GV80 has received a number of important changes with the mid-life update. A brand-new Two-Line Crest grille, bigger air intakes, and a wider skid plate on the front bumper are all part of the facelift. Further. ''A new chrome trim extends seamlessly through the sides, exuding a powerful presence from the front to rear bumper.'' Inside, the car gets a 27-inch OLED display that integrates the infotainment system and digital instrument cluster. For user convenience, the HVAC controls now function by touch.

Chief Brand Officer of Genesis, Graeme Russell commented on the premiere ''As the boundaries of luxury continue to be redefined, Genesis believes that the GV80 and GV80 Coupe will cater to the ever-evolving needs of our discerning customers.''
