Honda Cars India has launched the new Honda WR-V urban crossover in India. Prices for the WR-V start at Rs. 7.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Based on the underpinnings of the Jazz, the new WR-V is an urban crossover from Honda Cars which will compete against the Ford EcoSport, Hyundai i20 Active and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.

The WR-V gets the same engines which are offered with the Jazz. The petrol engine is a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder, SOHC i-VTEC engine that develops 88bhp and 110Nm of torque. This engine comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The diesel offering in the WR-V is the 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, DOHC i-DTEC engine that churns out 98bhp and 200Nm of torque which comes with a 6-speed manual transmission. Honda has not offered the WR-V with an automatic transmission at the moment. Honda claims that the petrol motor can deliver fuel economy of 17.5km/l, while the diesel engine has a fuel economy 25.5km/l.

The WR-V gets 14-inch ventilated discs at the front and a 200mm drum brake setup at the rear. ABS with EBD is offered as standard with dual front airbags. To make the WR-V more potent than the Jazz on the rough Indian roads, Honda has given the WR-V larger 16-inch wheels wrapped with 195/60 rubber and a ground clearance of 188mm. However, the WR-V on average weighs 50kgs more than the Jazz.

The Honda WR-V will be offered in two trim levels ‘S’ and ‘VX’ in both petrol and diesel versions and both come loaded with clever features and is offered in six exterior colours including the new ‘Premium Amber’ paint finish. Honda offers the WR-V with features like LED DRLs, electric sunroof, touch-sensitive automatic climate control system and a brand new 6.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with an all new Android OS based interface. The system features satellite navigation, voice command recognition, Bluetooth, 2 USB ports, 2 micro SD slots, 1 HDMI slot and comes with 1.5GB internal storage with Mirror Link smartphone support. As an option, buyers can also equip their cars with Wi-Fi support for internet connectivity as well.
