The brand-new Jimny, Maruti Suzuki's much-awaited global off-roader, has finally arrived in India this year. The SUV made its debut at the 2023 Auto Expo, where bookings for the car were also opened for a token amount of Rs 25,000. The Jimny received 9,000 bookings in the first ten days. As of now, the off-roader has garnered more than 15,000 bookings within three weeks, which speaks of the car's popularity among Indian buyers even before its official launch. The Jimny 5-door will go on sale in May of this year. Although the international-spec Jimny is sold in a three-door configuration around the world, Maruti Suzuki is only offering it in a five-door configuration in our market, which will be sold through Nexa showrooms. Further, the SUV qualifies for lower taxation because it is under four metres in length, even with the extra doors. The increased legroom for passengers in the back and the proper boot provided by the Jimny's extended wheelbase have given Indian buyers a sense of practicality.

An optional 4-speed torque-converter automatic transmission or a standard 5-speed manual transmission are both available for the Jimny 5-door's 105bhp, 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine with generates 134Nm of torque. The Jimny's off-road equipment consists of a low-range gearbox with 2WD-high, 4WD-high, and 4WD-low modes, as well as Suzuki's AllGrip Pro 4WD system with a manual transfer case. The car will be manufactured at the firm's Gujarat manufacturing facility, where the three-door version of the Jimny is already produced for export.
