Three new electric vehicles have been unveiled by MG Motor India as part of their 'MG 2.0' initiative: the MG 4, an electric sports car, and the MG Cyberster. These revelations were accompanied by the announcement of significant partnerships between MG and the JSW Group to create new vehicles tailored to the Indian market. As of yet, there has been no word on when the all-electric Cyberster will be available in India. With its sleek design and cutting-edge electric drivetrain, the Cyberster harkens back to the iconic MG roadsters of the past, which were among the most agile and entertaining sports cars on the market. Consistent with the brand's roots, it features a long hood, attractive styling, and a two-seat rear-wheel drive arrangement, all of which indicate that MG is making an effort to please both enthusiasts and casual buyers. The MG Cyberster roadster is worth investigating in depth. With that out of the way, let's dig into more details:

MG Cyberster EV: Design

Taking design cues from MG's long history in motorsport, the open-top, two-door sportscar radiates classic good taste. Its modern, minimalist aesthetic is a nod to the past of the company. Frontal features include sweptback headlights housed in a gently sloping nose and a dynamically contoured bumper with prominent air intakes. A fabric soft-top, striking scissor doors, and petal-like alloy wheels add to the vehicle's captivating presence.

The side profile highlights the sleek side skirts, accentuated rear haunches, and flawlessly smooth lines. The car's aesthetic is elevated by the accent line, which elegantly stretches from the A-pillar to the back and features uniquely placed door handles. The sportscar's dominant appearance is completed at the back by arrow-shaped taillights, a striking rectangular light bar that runs the length of the vehicle, and an aggressive split diffuser.

Upon entering the Cyberster, one is greeted by an array of buttons on a flat-bottomed steering wheel. The driver is then surrounded by three massive digital screens that show a lot of information about the car. The roof mechanism, drive selector, and HVAC functions can be easily controlled via the tactile buttons and extra screen on the centre console. A functional grab handle and a unique waterfall effect define the driver's and passenger's respective areas of the console. The luxurious fascia and instrumentation, which reflect current gaming aesthetics, give the cabin an air of modern charm.

Two electric motors, one on each axle, transmit power to the Cyberster's four wheels from an impressive 77 kWh battery pack. The combination of 535bhp and 725Nm of peak torque allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.2 seconds. The Cyberster's CLTC-claimed range stands at 580km on a single charge.

An affordable version that has a single motor and rear-wheel drive is also available. It has 308bhp and 520km of range on a somewhat smaller 64 kWh battery pack. Depending on the specification, the weight distribution can range from 1,850 kg for the single-motor version to 1,985 kg for the dual-motor version with all-wheel drive.

Although MG's ZS EV and Comet EV are already on sale in India, the launch date for the all-electric Cyberster remains unknown.
