Toyota launched the new Fortuner in India in November

After a long wait, Toyota brought in the much-awaited Fortuner at a starting price of Rs 25.92 lakh. In less than a month the new Fortuner had already received more than 5,400 bookings. Now, a little over 2 months since its launch, it has already breached the 10,000 bookings mark. Toyota commenced deliveries of the Fortuner immediately after the launch and already have more than 5,000 units on the road by now. The Fortuner currently has a waiting period of around 2-3 months depending on the variant. The Japanese car maker says than of these more than 60 per cent of the total orders have been for the Super White colour and the demand for automatic is relatively higher than the manual variants.

Expressing his view on this remarkable milestone, N. Raja, Director & Sr. Vice President, Marketing & Sales, Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, “The new Fortuner has received a phenomenal response from our customers and the market. A true testimony to this lies in the fact that even though the new Fortuner was launched a day prior to the announcement of demonetization in India, it did not dampen the spirits of our customers who have been waiting for the all-new Fortuner. We thank our customers for such an encouraging and inspiring start to this iconic brand’s second innings in India.

The Toyota Fortuner comes with two engine options – a 2.7-litre petrol with 2WD and a 2.8-litre diesel that comes with an optional 4WD. Both these engines come with manual as well as automatic gearbox options. In December 2016, the Toyota Fortuner sold 1,780 units which is almost twice as much as its arch rival, the Ford Endeavour which registered sale of only 912 units.
