Volkswagen has started accepting reservations for the highly anticipated Golf GTI in India. This iconic hatchback, known for its performance pedigree, will be available as a completely built-up (CBU) import. Customers can now secure their booking by paying a token amount of Rs 2.65 lakh via the official Volkswagen India website. Deliveries are expected to begin next month, with select dealerships handling the first units. Powering the latest Golf GTI is a robust 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that churns out 260bhp and 370Nm of torque. Mated to a quick-shifting seven-speed DSG automatic transmission, the power is directed solely to the front wheels. This dynamic setup propels the car from 0 to 100km/h in a rapid 5.9 seconds, while its top speed is electronically limited to 250km/h, offering a performance experience that lives up to the GTI's storied reputation.
Visually, the new GTI retains its sporty yet restrained character. The refreshed front fascia sports a signature honeycomb grille adorned with the GTI badge, redesigned LED headlamps, and a more aggressive bumper treatment. Subtle updates at the rear – including sleeker taillights and a tweaked diffuser – enhance its athletic appeal without straying from the classic Golf silhouette.

The hatchback continues to flaunt its compact and timeless proportions, now elevated with aerodynamic enhancements. The India-spec variant will roll on 18-inch, dual-tone, five-spoke alloy wheels that add to its assertive stance.
Inside, the Volkswagen Golf GTI presents a cabin tailored for enthusiasts, blending function with flair. A predominantly black interior sets a dramatic tone, brightened by red accents that inject visual excitement and reinforce the car’s dynamic personality. The front bucket seats embrace the GTI legacy with bold, heritage-inspired Tartan cloth and prominent GTI branding embossed into the backrests – honouring the lineage while delivering everyday comfort.
In terms of equipment, the 2025 GTI brings a future-forward suite of features. Highlights include immersive 30-colour ambient lighting, a wireless charging dock, wireless smartphone mirroring (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), a panoramic sunroof, and a multi-zone automatic climate system. A standout inclusion is Volkswagen’s integration of a ChatGPT-powered voice assistant, enhancing in-car interaction through conversational AI.
The GTI also raises the bar on occupant safety. It packs a range of semi-autonomous systems, seven airbags, front and rear parking sensors, electronic stability control (ESC), and a rear view camera. Adaptive cruise control and lane assist lend an extra layer of safety, making highway driving safer and more intuitive.
Although the brand has yet to disclose how many units will be allocated for India, the model will likely be introduced in restricted numbers to retain its exclusivity among performance car buyers. Pricing details remain under wraps for now, but market projections suggest it will be positioned near the Rs 50 lakh range.
