In a press release, Maruti Suzuki today stated that it sold 178,083 units overall in May 2023, including both domestic sales and exports to other nations. Last month, the carmaker sold 146,596 units domestically, 5,010 units to other OEMs including Toyota, and 26,477 units overseas. Like the previous several months, the utility vehicle sector contributed the majority of the share of Maruti Suzuki India's sales in May. This segment sold 143,708 units, up from the 124,474 units sold in the same month of 2022. The manufacturer reported 46,243 units in the utility vehicle segment in May 2023, a considerable increase from 28,051 the previous month. The company sells models including the Brezza, the Ertiga, the Fronx, the Grand Vitara, the S-Cross, and the XL6 in this market. The carmaker says that it sold 82,997 units of SUVs and crossovers in the first two months of the current fiscal year, a significant rise over the 61,992 units registered in the same period of the previous fiscal. As per the company's statement, the shortage of electric parts such as microchips had only a slight impact on vehicle manufacturing.

The much-awaited Jimny will be powered by a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine that makes 103bhp and 134Nm. The Jimny SUV will have the option of a 4-speed torque converter automatic or a 5-speed manual transmission. Additionally, the off-road vehicle will come standard with all-wheel drive. Suzuki's AllGrip Pro 4WD system and the new Jimny's strong ladder-frame chassis, according to Maruti Suzuki, would help it perform effectively off-road. Three separate driving modes—2WD-high, 4WD-high, and 4WD-low—are offered by the AllGrip Pro system thanks to its manual transfer case and low-range gearbox.

The all-new SUV will come equipped with a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, steering-mounted controls, auto climate control, electrically adjustable wing mirrors, and more in its five-door configuration. Furthermore, the safety list will include six airbags, a brake limited slip differential, ABS, EBD, ESP, Hill Hold Assist, Hill Descent Control, Brake Assist, a rearview camera, and ISOFIX anchors as standard equipment.
