Lexus has now restructured itself as an independent organisation from Toyota Kirloskar Motor.

Lexus is the premium brand of Japanese automotive manufacturer Toyota. In March 2017, Toyota introduced the Lexus brand officially in India and addition to creating a dealership network bespoke to the Japanese luxury marquee in major cities across the country.

After five months of the brand's existence in India, Lexus has announced that the company has been restructured and is independent of the larger Toyota brand and will be henceforth known as – Lexus India. Additionally, a new leadership structure is currently being established to take the company forward towards the brand's growth strategy as claimed by the manufacturer.

When Lexus was introduced earlier this year, the brand launched three products for the Indian market which included two hybrid models. The line-up includes the ES300h,  RX450h and larger diesel powered LX450d. Currently, Lexus has four dealerships in India which they are referring to as guest experience centres. These outlets are stationed in New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Gurgaon. In addition to that, Lexus dealers in India can also import other products from their international line-up as well.

The new team at Lexus India is lead by the Chairman, Akito Tachibana. Akitoshi Takemura in his role as President leads the Lexus India business. He stated “India is an extremely important market for Lexus. This announcement of a new and independent organizational structure is a signal that we intend to build a business that continues to drive growth not only in India but with India and for India,”

Additionally, Arun Nair has been appointed as Vice President, Operations. Nair commented; “In a few short months in India, Lexus has already made significant progress; our products have received a warm reception by the market, we have expanded our physical presence with the opening of four guest experience centres and our brand is being recognized as a luxury lifestyle brand through initiatives such as Lexus Short Films. The changes we are announcing today will help Lexus ride that momentum to drive further, sustainable growth in India.”
