MG ZS Petrol
Change CarMG ZS Petrol Preview
One of the most anticipated models Morris Garages is bringing to the Indian market this year is the MG ZS Petrol. While the MG ZS EV has been in the market for a while now, it is soon to be joined by its petrol-powered derivative.
In order to give it a different identity than its electric sibling, MG might ditch the ‘ZS’ moniker in favour of an all-new name. At this point, however, it’s unclear what that name would be, so let’s just stick to MG ZS Petrol for this preview.
What we do know is that MG will be bringing the facelifted version of the ZS to the Indian market, which was unveiled in the second half of 2020. The facelift update brings reprofiled front and rear bumpers, revised headlamps and taillamps, and a set of new alloy wheels.
Inside, too, the changes are minimal with the most prominent one being the new fully-digital instrument cluster – there in the global model – in place of analogue dials. The materials and fit-and-finish are expected to be largely the same.
The MG ZS Petrol will be powered by two petrol engines; a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated unit and a 1.3-litre turbocharged gasoline one. Both the engines are expected to be available with manual and automatic gearbox options.
Expect the ZS Petrol to hit the Indian market by the third quarter of this year. Upon its arrival, it will lock horns with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Renault Duster, Nissan Kicks, and the upcoming German duo – Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun.
