Bajaj has introduced the Chetak 3001, which builds on the foundation laid by the Chetak 2903, but with sweeping changes aimed at urban riders seeking to ditch petrol power. The model is priced at Rs 99,990 (ex-showroom). Sharing his thoughts on the launch, Eric Vas, President, Urbanite Business Unit, Bajaj Auto Ltd., said, 'Chetak 3001 sets the benchmark for mass adoption of electric scooters. Built on the next-generation platform, it delivers the range and performance that Indian scooter riders demand – distraction-free riding with the peace of mind of assured reliability and service. The Chetak 3001 is the everyday Electric scooter to make petrol scooters redundant; its bigger, stronger, and fully Lifeproof at an ex-showroom price of Rs 99,990.'
Based on the Chetak 35 Series platform, the scooter now houses its 3.0kWh battery pack in the floorboard, shifting the weight downward for improved balance and ride dynamics. This adjustment also frees up underseat space, offering a generous 35 litres of storage, making it more convenient for daily commuting.

The 3001 opts for a clever redesign over the 2903, lowering the centre of gravity and boosting real-world usability. With a certified range of 127 km, the scooter effectively addresses range concerns often associated with electric mobility. Complementing this is a 750W charging unit, capable of replenishing 80% of the battery in just under four hours, making home charging a practical solution.
Bajaj has also expanded the tech suite under what it calls the TecPac upgrade, bundling in features like hands-free music and call controls, self-cancelling indicators, reverse alerts, hill-hold functionality, and a ‘guide-me-home’ lighting system. These additions not only enhance convenience but also elevate the overall riding experience.
The 3001 carries forward a hallmark of the Chetak lineup – its full-metal construction, which remains a standout in a segment where plastic bodywork is the norm. Rugged and premium in feel, this steel frame is paired with an IP67 rating, ensuring resilience against water damage from potholes, puddles, or monsoon downpours.

In terms of rivals, the Chetak 3001 will go head-to-head with popular models like the Ather Rizta S, TVS iQube 2.2kWh, Vida V2, and Ola S1 X. With its strong focus on functionality, durability, and tech-forward appeal, the Chetak 3001 aims to carve out a niche for riders seeking a long-lasting and future-ready electric scooter.
