The market of performance bikes in India includes powerful beasts from reputable brands such as Ducati, Kawasaki, and BMW Motorrad. The performance-oriented motorcycles are more faster, powerful, and technology-driven as compared to the regular ones. These speed monsters are also more expensive than their conventional counterparts. If you are an adventure seeker with a lot of money to live your fantasy of cruising around the Indian roads on a performance bike, here are some options to consider.
Kawasaki Ninja H2R
The Kawasaki Ninja H2R, a track-only model, is the most powerful and expensive machine on the list. It is available in a single Mirror Coated Matte Spark Black paint finish, with a whopping price tag of Rs 79.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The Kawasaki beast is equipped with a 998cc inline four-cylinder supercharged engine. The motor produces 305.7bhp at 14,000rpm when paired with a six-speed gearbox. However, the output number increases to 322bhp with a ram-air intake. The torque rating is 165Nm at 12,500rpm. The gearbox is six-speed, featuring a slip-and-assist clutch and Kawasaki's two-way quick shifter.
The bike's equipment list includes a Bosch Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) that is compatible with the Kawasaki Cornering Management System. The instrument cluster shows both the bank angle and the highest bank angle achieved. The Kawasaki track-only machine is furnished with electronic rider aids such as cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, slide control, launch control, and engine brake control.
The Ninja H2R's suspension system consists of 43mm upside-down front forks and an Ohlins TTX36 gas-charged rear monoshock, both of which are completely adjustable. At an ex-showroom price of Rs 69.99 lakh, the Panigale V4 R is the most formidable motorcycle offered by Ducati in India. The robust machine is loaded with a plethora of features, such as traction control, wheelie control, multiple riding and power modes, cornering ABS, slide engine braking control, and auto tyre calibration. It is equipped with a Desmosedici Stradale 998cc 4-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. The unit is capable of achieving a maximum speed of 16,500rpm in sixth gear (16,000rpm in other gears).
In terms of power, the machine generates 215bhp at 15,500rpm and 111.3Nm at 12,000rpm. However, the Panigale V4 R unleashes the maximum power and torque outputs of 237bhp at 15,500 rpm and 118Nm at 12,250 rpm, respectively, when paired with the full-race exhaust from Akrapovic. The engine is coupled to a six-speed race gearbox with a Ducati quickshift. The Panigale V4's suspension is made up of Ohlins TTX 36 rear monoshocks and 43mm Ohlins NPX 25/30 front forks, both of which are completely adjustable. The Ducati motorcycle features dual 330mm front discs with Brembo Monobloc Stylema M4.30 callipers and a 245mm single rotor with a two-piston calliper in the rear.
In the list of the most powerful bikes available in India, the Ducati Panigale V4 R is followed by its sibling, the V4. The V4 in the Ducati Panigale series costs Rs 27.72 lakh (ex-showroom). It is propelled by a 1,103cc, V4-cylinder, liquid-cooled Desmosedici Stradale engine that develops 212.5bhp and 123.6Nm using a six-speed transmission.
BMW M 1000 RR
The powerful road-legal Beemer, the M 1000 RR, is another model on the list for performance enthusiasts in India. The bike's Standard model is priced at Rs 49 lakh. On the other hand, the top-spec Competition variant costs Rs 55 lakh, which is Rs 6 lakh more than the base model. All prices are ex-showroom.
The M 1000 RR comes fitted with a 999cc in-line four-cylinder engine that generates 209bhp of maximum power at 14,500rpm and 113Nm of peak torque at 11,000rpm. The unit is connected to a manual 6-speed gearbox. The BMW model offers several noteworthy amenities, such as Shift Assist Pro, a 6.5-inch TFT screen, launch control, wheelie control, slide control, dynamic brake control, LED lighting, heated grips, cruise control, and traction control.
The M Competition package boasts some additional features like an anodised rear-wheel swinging arm, M Aero wheel coverings, and an M GPS lap trigger. The BMW bike is supported by a rear monoshock and 45mm upside-down forks, both of which can be adjusted for compression and rebound. The motorcycle's braking system consists of one 220mm disc at the rear and two 320mm discs at the front.
Ducati Streetfighter V4
The new Ducati Streetfighter V4 is one of the best high-performance machines available in the country. It is offered in two variants: standard and V4 S. The former costs Rs 24.62 lakh, while the latter is priced at Rs 27.80 lakh for the Ducati Red and Rs 28 lakh for the Grey Nero colours. The Streetfighter V4 from Ducati is driven by a 1,103cc liquid-cooled V4 engine that produces an impressive 205bhp and 123Nm at 13,000rpm and 9,500rpm, respectively. The unit features a bi-directional quick-shifter and a six-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch.
With the optional Ducati performance exhaust (track only), which is 6 kg lighter than the factory unit, the peak power and torque can be raised to 220bhp and 130Nm respectively. The suspension on the standard Streetfighter V4 is provided by a Sachs monoshock and a fully adjustable Showa Big Piston fork. BMW's S 1000 RR is a supersport monster available in three trim levels: Standard, Pro, and Pro M Sport. The base model costs Rs 20.75 lakh, whereas the top-spec model is priced at Rs 25.25 lakh. Both are ex-showroom figures. The bike sports a liquid-cooled, inline-four, 999cc engine with a BMW ShiftCam and a six-speed gearbox. It boasts performance figures of 113Nm at 11,000rpm and 206.5bhp at 13,750rpm, respectively. The motorcycle's electronic rider aids comprise a pit lane limitation, hill start control, bidirectional quick shifter, launch control, four ride modes (Rain, Road, Dynamic, and Race), traction control system with slide control function, and ABS with brake slide assist.
For suspension, the bike employs a 45mm USD front fork with preload, rebound, and compression adjustments. A rear monoshock with adjustable damping is also included. Braking is performed by a 320mm twin disc in front, and a 220mm disc at the back, along with multiple ABS modes.
In the hierarchy of performance motorcycles, the BMW M 1000 R sits next to its formidable sibling, the S 1000 RR. The starting price for the M 1000 R is Rs 33 lakh (ex-showroom). The mechanical characteristics of the BMW Street Naked bike include a 999cc liquid-cooled inline-four engine with 210bhp at 13,750rpm and 113Nm at 11,000rpm. A six-speed gearbox and quickshifter are attached to the motor. Among the features of the motorcycle are ride modes, keyless start, and multi-level traction control.
