Customers can now book a BMW M340i for a minimum booking amount of Rs 1 lakh. BMW will offer a specially curated track session for driver training to the first 40 customers.

BMW is all set to spice up the 3 Series range with the launch of the M340i xDrive next week. The German luxury carmaker has now commenced bookings of the car for a minimum amount of Rs 1 lakh. BMW currently offers the standard 3 Series in three variants - 330i Sport, 320d Luxury Edition and the 330i M Sport. This new performance-focused M340i will sit at the top of the range. For the uninitiated, while the M340i does offer better performance than the standard 3 Series, it’s not a full-blown M performance car like the M3.

Towards the end of 2020, Mercedes-Benz brought in the locally-assembled AMG GLC 43 Coupe – a first for the brand. BMW has now followed suit with the M340i xDrive, which is its first-ever locally assembled model. With that in mind, expect this new Bimmer to be priced competitively – around the Rs 65 lakh mark.

Powering the BMW M340i xDrive is a 3.0-litre inline-six motor, with twin turbos. This motor develops 382bhp and 500Nm, all of which is harnessed by BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system. The engine comes paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The M340i claims to dismiss the 0 – 100km/h dash in 4.4 seconds, which is 1.4 seconds faster than the 330i, with a smaller 2.0-litre motor.

As far as design goes, the M340i comes with a few as compared to the standard model. The front grille gets a generous dose of chrome, and the 340i also gets a metallic grey finish for the ORVM casings, air intakes, grille surrounds, and more. The interior too, is more or less unchanged, with the exception of the all-black Alcantara upholstery.

BMW will bring in the M340i xDrive on 10th March. The first 40 customers will get a specially curated driver training session at a race-track in India to help extract the maximum potential of the car. Want to read more about the BMW M340i xDrive? Follow the link below or watch our detailed review.
