The long-awaited Elevate has been launched by Honda Cars in the country at a starting price of Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom). The all-new Honda car, featuring a single drivetrain and available in four variants, has entered the highly competitive mid-size SUV segment, which already includes popular cars like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. With the growing demand for compact SUVs and numerous options available in India, we pit the Elevate against one of its closest rivals, the Kia Seltos, which is available in the country at an introductory ex-showroom price of Rs 10.89 lakh. The Elevate SUV has a bold and boxy front-end design. It gets a striking black radiator grille, substantial wheel arches, 17-inch alloy wheels, integrated LED daytime running lights (DRLs), LED taillights, and LED headlights, among other notable features. The black claddings along the sides add to its overall visual appeal.

In contrast, the Kia Seltos stands out with its 18-inch wheels, sculpted bonnet, LED headlights featuring integrated DRLs, distinctive tiger-nose grille, and wrap-around LED taillamps.

The Kia Seltos and the Elevate are both compact SUVs, but they differ in size. The Seltos is longer than the Elevate, measuring 4,365mm in length, while the Elevate is taller than the Seltos, standing at 1,650mm. The Seltos has a shorter wheelbase of 2,610mm than its Japanese rival, which measures 2,650mm. Additionally, the Elevate has a larger boot of 458 litres compared to the Seltos's 433 litres.

Honda Elevate vs Kia Seltos: Powertrain

In terms of engine, the Elevate is available with a single choice, whereas the Kia Seltos offers three options. The Elevate is powered by a 1.5-litre iVTEC petrol engine, which generates 120bhp and 145Nm and is coupled with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed CVT. In contrast, the Kia Seltos is available with three engine options: a 1.5-litre petrol engine with 113bhp/144Nm, a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine with 114.4bhp/250Nm, and a new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, which produces approximately 158bhp and 253Nm. The petrol version of the Seltos can be had with either a six-speed manual or a CVT automatic, while the turbo-diesel setup is available with a 6-speed iMT and a 6-speed automatic as transmission options. The new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine is available with either a seven-speed DCT or a six-speed iMT.

The Honda Elevate comes in four variants – SV, V, VX, and ZX – and is equipped with several features such as a single pane sunroof, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and ADAS suite, among others. In comparison, the Kia Seltos gets features such as a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, dual-zone climate control, two 10.25-inch screens, and Level-2 ADAS functionalities. The Kia SUV is available in seven variants –HTE, HTK, HTK Plus, HTX, HTX Plus, GTX Plus, and X Line – across three trim levels.

The different trims of the Honda Elevate are available with prices ranging from Rs 11 lakh for the base SV MT model to Rs 16 lakh for the top-spec ZX CVT version. On the other hand, The Kia Seltos has a starting price of Rs 10.89 lakh, which goes up to Rs 20 lakh for the X-Line Turbo DCT model. All prices are ex-showroom.
