The 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift is now available for purchase in India, starting at Rs 6.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Its bookings opened on May 1 for a small sum of Rs 11,000 and crossed the 10,000 mark in just 8 days before the launch on May 9, 2024. The legendary Swift gets several updates, the most significant of which is a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder Z Series petrol engine. Maruti Suzuki claims that this new powertrain can lower CO2 emissions by 12% and increase fuel efficiency by 10%. The quoted mileage is 25.75 km/l for the AMT and 24.80 km/l for the manual version. New Maruti Suzuki Swift: Engine
The Z series powerplant makes its debut in India with the fourth-gen Swift. It includes a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated three-cylinder petrol unit that produces 80bhp and 111.7Nm, mated to either a 5-speed manual or an AMT.

In terms of design, the next-generation Swift gets some noticeable exterior and interior improvements while maintaining the classic profile. It sports redesigned front and rear bumpers, LED projector headlamps, LED DRLs, a shiny black grille, LED fog lights, diamond-cut alloy wheels, a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen, and cruise control. The hatch has a redesigned dashboard with an all-black surface, and Satin Matte Silver inlays, along with asymmetric dials for the instrument console. While the new Swift has the same 2,450mm wheelbase as its predecessor, it is now 15mm longer, 40mm thinner, and 30mm taller.

New Maruti Suzuki Swift: Price and Rivals
The updated Swift's price ranges from Rs 6.49 lakh for the LXi MT model to Rs 9.65 lakh for the ZXi+ Dual Tone AMT version. Aside from certain variants of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20, and Tata Altroz, the new generation Maruti Suzuki Swift will continue to directly compete with the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and the Tata Tiago in India.
