Leaving the Octavia RS 245 aside, Skoda already has three products on the cards for India next year - a new compact SUV based on the new MQB A0 IN platform, the Karoq and the 2020 Superb facelift

Come 2020, Skoda is expected to step on the gas with regards to new car launches. We already told you that the Karoq will be launched in India sometime next year. Meanwhile, we also get to know that Skoda is currently evaluating the Octavia 245 for the Indian market. The Octavia RS was launched in India in 2017. At the time Skoda only brought 250 units of the car. With a lot of demand from enthusiasts, the Czech carmaker was forced to bring another 250 units. And the demand still continues. Skoda officials have told us that they are contemplating bringing the new Octavia RS 245 to India and it is under discussions with the board.

As the name rightly suggests the Octavia RS 245 pumps more power and torque than the model it replaces. This one makes about 245horses and makes peak torque of 370Nm - 20Nm more than before. If Skoda does bring it to India, it could possibly be as a CBU. As per the regulations, carmakers can bring in 2,500 units per year as imports without having to go through the homologation process. Needless to say, this will probably add to the price of the Octavia RS 245. Expect it to be priced around the Rs 32 lakh range.

While there is still that uncertainty about the Octavia RS 245, the Superb facelift has been confirmed for India launch in mid-2020. Skoda has only just taken the wraps off the 2020 Superb last week. The company’s first SUV based on the MQB A0 IN platform is also expected to be unveiled as early as Auto Expo 2020 with its probable launch towards the end of the year.
