The Tata Nexon EV has breached a substantial sales figure. It appears that Tata Motors is setting up a good base for its upcoming electric vehicle portfolio which will likely include eight more models.

Tata Motors has reported that the Nexon EV has crossed the 13,500 unit sales figure. By April 2021, the Nexon EV had just breached the 4,000 unit sales, which means that 9,500 units of EV have been sold in the past 10 months –  which is an impressive number. More recently, Tata Motors came up with the Tigor EV which mostly uses the same underpinnings as the Nexon EV. However, the electric sub-compact-sedan is not matching the success rate of its SUV sibling.

Currently, Tata Nexon EV uses a 30.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack which offers a range of 312kms (claimed). The power output of the outgoing model is marked at 127 bhp and 245 Nm and the SUV can sprint to a 100km/hr within 9.9 seconds (claimed).

Reports online have suggested that an updated version of the Nexon EV is in the works which is likely to pack in more power and a larger battery pack; resulting in a longer range.

That said, the Tata Altroz EV should have made its debut by now, however, the apparent semiconductor shortage must have pushed its launch ahead.
